he has the 28 spline pinion - and he regrets going with that gear ratio because the 35 spline was not availiable in it. He broke two pinions already - not because of the pinion size but becasue the suspension design allowed too much axle wrap. On top of that, we has stripped two from ring gears.
I have looked extensively into any 40 spline axle setups. U will find that most of the top axle builders usually do not recommend 40 spline unless u are doing a floater set up as the axle bearings for a semi float 40 spline are not reliable due to the axle diameter being increased so much without increasing the housing ends size.
dont you have to use ball bearings?
I don't doubt you would break a stock 9 inch, but do you really think you beat on stuff hard enough to need 40 spline shafts? i would get a upgrade 35 spline pinion, daytona pinion support, nod case with whatever gears, full spool, and 35 spline alloy shafts. that'll still leave you plenty of bearing and case strength
do a full float kit... they are baddood
that looks sweet, i thisnk I am going to go w/ 35 spline chromo stuff. not sure who from but somebody, any ideas

a pair of 9's
Big Money!
Guy selling seems like a doosh too.
still probably cheaper than ordering them yourself new, just a thought
yeah but I don't want currie high pinon they use 8.8 gears, ruins the reason to buy a 9
