I ressurrected this thread to run this name for a boat by you, "Ridin' Dirty"
I like it!
I vote My Michelle all the way. In two years people will say "Ridin Dirty, oh yeah that stupid song by that black guy" Where as My Michelle is by kick ass Guns n' Roses and of course it is funny, which fits jimmy alot better.Quote:

I bet that boats a screamer too :gigem:
..and I bet it smokes, it's kind of whiskey tango, built in the mid 80's, eventually it will have a decent rack on it, it's not perfet but it'll do, etc. etc.
Anyone know what the inside of a 351 looks like? Guess I'm going to find out. Why did I buy a boat again?
probably a lot like the inside of fred's 345
what? it doesn't work?
Did a compression check tonight for ****s and giggles then spent the rest of the night drinking wine with the married friends.:rainbow: The compression check was somewhat humorous in a bad way. It was cold which doesn't help, but it wasn't good. I'm going to get it ready to yank tomorrow. I figure I might as well pull it instead of trying to tear it apart in the boat to find out I need to yank it anyway. I think it might take an hour to get it ready to pull, not much to it. Stick to offroad rigs, boats are dumb.
so what were the numbers?
Here's a pic of a v-drive as seen in the free manual I found online that saved me about $45. Mine just has this little clutch deal that may or may not have a little reduction in it depending what model it is. The motor is ready to pull, and I officially named it the "Goodnight Irene"
hmm, what kind of drive is in there? im interested to know how they get the angular offset. are you taking yours apart? if so, take pics.
edit: one of those with dual outputs would be killa for a rockwell or tractor axle rig.
I have seen some outboards with a angled drive. I would guess its a spur gear.Quote:

That isn't in mine, it's in the generic manual I found online. Mine is just a little straight through clutch unit.
ah, so your waterpump is facing the front of the boat?
i think thats what its showing on the right, mike. two helical gears and a spur gear. so, its basically a gear driven t-case with a pinion for an output shaft. cool.

yes. however if you were going to have to build a new one with dual outputs, it would be easy to incorporate some reduction.
i said rockwell/ tractor axles becasue they are both center differentials. arent rocks centered?
It looks to me like the top gear on the V-drive might be a larger diameter than the output gear so this would be an "overdrive" for lack of better terms would it not. Jimmy, I think this may have been the reduction he was talking about, not your straight clutch system...
RESURRECT!!!
Yanked the motor out of Irene tonight, hopefully it's the head gasket. Water in the motor for sure, but nothing looks cracked or too rusty to clean up. We'll know for sure tomorrow night when we get it torn down the rest of the way. I can feel my bank accout hurting already. Anyone know how credit cards work? I have to pay the money back right? ;)

I thought of you the other day when I was taking a ****...weird :flipoff2:

I think I remember seeing a news show about how people use WoW to hook up and do the internet sex chat thing, so facilitating that might not be a bad idea. But seeing as how most users are probably under 18, legal issues might arrise.
I want in.
