BTW, do you'll think it may be a good idea to rig up some kinda snorkel?

id say there is alot of wheeling done, we get up (sober up pretty early ~8-9) and hit the trails and your pretty much gone all day... i think that first friday last year it was dark by the time we got back. and then again night wheeling... some times its an hour... unless your doing snakepit after a SWFWDA meeting and your drunk and leave at 10 and roll back up to the campsite about 4:30. and yes it gets cold, ice and frost pretty much cover the vehicles when they are sitting there at night.... just bring alot of jack and you wont even feel it though :flipoff2:Quote:

what kind of tanks do you need?Quote:

It's in much better shape than before - ready to go, wire wise...Quote:

I agree that night wheeling is awesome but lets not get the bright idea to run snake pit at midnight.Quote:

good, I was kinda worried, not about the number of tanks, but simply where to put them on the way up there. I'm hoping I can fit them on the trailer under the buggy and strap them down there
i have the whole bed of my truck... i am gonna bring the torch and maby a couple other tools but the bed is gonna be plenty empty
speaking of torches and tools, is anyone bringing a welder with them? I'm considering taking mine since it would be nice to have in case of an emergency. Its a Hobart 140 mig, so it can run off of 110 power, which means we could probably run it about anywhere we need to
I got my radiator pulled today and clearanced some of the metal that was hitting it. I need to pick up some more foam tape to isolate it, but other than that it is ready to stick back in.
Unfortunately, I also realized in the process that my motor has slid even more than I thought on the mounts and will have to be moved back before clayton. So add one more thing to do to my list.
I'll be bringing my portable arc just in case, I don't think I'll be lugging my mig around though. :gigem:Quote:

I built some new spring packs to replace my sagging front springs, and swapped them in. I also redesigned my u-bolt plates in the front. I basicallly incorporated a new set of bumpstops and lower shock mounts into them. This will hopefully give me a better ride, as well as allow me to use close to all the travel on my shocks. Other than that I washed the *****, checked my fluids, packed my tools, and I'm ready to go. :flipoff2:
The only other things that I may attempt to get done before clayton is to have a new high pressure line built for my power steering, and rig up some kinda snorkel
still waiting on some Birfields for me
I still need to get pigpen in the driveway and the motor taken care of. Other than that most of the little stuff is either done or 90% there.
Jeep's off for chromolly cage, power steering, and more. Should have it back within a week or two...speaking of which, we only have 3 weeks and 2 weekends left til the trip...Oh ****. I still need to bleed the brakes, cinch down the brake lines, and adjust the carb.
Well, I didn't find anybody that had the time to help me with the welding needed this weekend, so putting the radiator back in has to wait. Brandon is going to give me a hand one evening this week if we can get the plug to fit my round 3 prong 220 outlet.
Also, I think Eric dropped off my driveshaft to get shortened, but I can't remember where and he is off in BFE, so I will have to wait until he gets back in cell range to check. Hopefully, the smaller tube diameter will negate the need to grind down my crossmember & gas tank skidplate.
Here is my list of remaining stuff:
Weld strap & put radiator back in (see thread )
Put in driveshaft (hopefully after shortened & retubed)
Lower rear end (this should be quick if I can get it running in time to take it up to a friends shop & use his lift)
Finish installing rocklights
Redo Motormounts (see thread )
little behind schedule...
Have a project due on thurs, after that I should be full steam ahead.
Tommorow - finish steering arms, order leaf spring sliders.
Thurs - drive to beaumont to pick up tires
- visit property to pick up Dana 60 ubolts I forgot
Friday - paint leaf springs and remaining D60 parts
- fix 14 bolt caliper
- start front end removal
Saturday/Sunday
- remove spring hangers and reposition
- weld carrier
- replace sector shaft and pitman arm
- assemble leaf packs
- make new shackles
- hang springs and D60
- assemble rest of d60
Tuesday - buy pipe for draglink/tierod
- tap pipe
- install above
- start messing with hydro assist
Following weekend - Hopefully wheel it at 47
alright after getting to drive and wheel my pile all weekend long here is a list of the must do's, and things i want to do
must do:
get hydro ram fixed-if not clayton is a no go since, i wheeled it all weekend without assist and it blew donkey balls and i am still sore.
beef up tie-rod, and steering stops so i dont fubar the ram again
fix front right brake bleeder
fix rear right shock mount
put some silicone on corner of windsheild from where i fubard it this weekend
Unload all parts that are not needed and pick up a another spare u joint for rear driveshaft since i am not gonna get the anti wrap built
Build new trac bar mount cause the mofo came loose again
want/need to do but prolly wont have time
replace u joint in the 44 shafts
put in zero rate blocks for rear
install rock lights
build anti wrap bar
have one of my 38 spares moved from a 8 back to a 5 lug rim
Install cd player- might be going in tow rig instead of bronco now
hoefully my truck will be up here this weekend so i can get to work asap on this crap.......
Steering arms and sliders ordered...
I need to check the air in my tires, and some other stuff...
don't forget to check you headlight fluid... Also, you might want to change the air in your tires instead of just checking it :flipoff2:Quote:

so matt at wto told me to just weld the heim to my ram, he suggested grindin it flat and weldingthe heim with the broken stud t the ram with a first pass of 6011, then he said maybe another of 7018. with the ram fully extended, and dont get it to hot.
what i am thinkin tell me if you all think this is a good idea or not, i was thinking of grinding the ram base flat, removing the broken stud from my heim, then either taking a piece of all thread, like already used, or a bolt of the same thread and diameter and welding that to the ram.
i think the bolt would be better since it would provide more surface area for the weld, what do you all think. will hopefully be done with it this weekend so i can go test the ram at 47 or somewhere to make sure it is gonna hold.
what is broken on the ram?
you might could borrow my ram from wto
the solid stud at the axle mounted end of the ram,
tate that would be great i could just take yours with me and if my welds break i could jsut swap in yours.
um, yes... pic?Quote:
