take not they are building a jeepspeed racer on xtreme 4x4 today
got the rear axle swapped in yesterday and eliminated the rear sway bar, time to go swap the front axle in
Get er dun.
TCC?
yeah, thats my plan is to have it done by tcc, i went driving around earlier, lots more power and flex, even tho its stock suspension
what axle did you put in the rear?
pulled a 35 c-clip out and put in a 35 non c-clip in with 3.73 gears, the front is gonna be a 30
i have a set of 2" lift springs for the rear if you are interested
i'll think about those springs, depending on what lift i decide to run, prolly those springs and an add a leaf in the rear, do you still need a pair of stock height springs, got the dummy axle out and and other axle ready to be put in tomorrow, i have pics but i'll upload them when i have hi-speed internet available, this dialup stuff sux, they need to hurry up and get the good stuff out here
i'll take them off your hands but ive decidded not to stretch the cj for now. it was to nice to cut up. we will see if that changes in teh near future
front axle installed, it is drivable again, im debating on whether to put the fenders back on again and trim them up quite a bit or just to leave them off as it is
things left to do:
install tranny and tcase
buy and install lift
weld the rear
buy and install locker for front
change tires over to right wheels
remove carpet from inside
reinstall the stereo and speakers
fix passanger door latch
adjust e-brake
trim body
make front bumper and skid plates
looks like fun, where did you get said axle from
Ditch the fenders and doors. I would leave the front locker for last, that way it wont prevent you from wheeling and/or making a deadline.
a freind of mine parted out an xj. i think he sold both axles, tranny and tcase for 200 bucks or something like that. all my friend wanted was the interior to put into another xj that had an engine fire

now that i think about it more i think it was more in the range of 125-150
yeah the parts i got was around 150, what i got was front and rear axle, tranny, tcase, drive shafts, crossmember, front springs, all the linkages, all the links, and a few other things, but im gonna see if i can find an ax15 tranny to put in
the progress that i made tonight was rerouted some vacuum lines, installed door speakers, installed cd player, fixed the door latch, put the interior door handles back on, fixed a rear tail light, and reinstalled some of the interior trim panels
here are some pics of the progress
lookin good mang...
so what is the total cost on this buildup? if you don't mind me asking
i bet you could get that hood from that same xj for 20 or 30 bucks if you want a good hood
so far total amount of money that i have into the thing is around 180Quote:

ok, before i left for my internship, i managed to put the fenders on for the hell of it and trim the front up some, the passanger side took a little convincing with the mini-sledge, i might do more trimming later, still need tor trim the rear, and krylon gloss white is a pretty damn good color match for it, i think i found another whole xj minus the engine for cheap, just need my brother to go look at it and get it, here are a few pics of the fender trim, i now need to decide on what brand of lift to get, i am prolly gonna go around 3"
There's gotta be some way to make a ghetto lift using stock parts so you dont have to spend money on a real lift.
my thoughts exactly
you could make drop down shackle hanger brackets in the rear for the rear and get some spacers for the front coils
If you don't want to buy a complete kit, for the front I wouldn't use coil spacers. I would try to find some coils out of another vehicle that would give you the amount of lift you want. Maybe f150's or dodge coils? Then buy Colman's 2" xj leaf's and add a small lift block.
it;s sua so he can't use lift blocks and if you want my springs make me an offer
no, its soa, i tried a set of f150 springs off my brothers truck and they didn't fit b/c the spring has a flat part on the end instead of being round, but i will look into more options, if anybody has anything let me know and i will think about what to do some more
so should i assume that my 2" springs aren't what you want cause you could buy those from me for 40 and then make a 1" lift block out of something or buy it and then find a 3" spacer for the front
one i dont think they make a 3 inch spacer for the front, so buy some decent coils or a kit.
tommy you might take a look at rear grand cherokees, i remember when we did cooks first lift we took the rear springs and put them up front for like two inches of lift.
He'd have to make new buckets for the front, rear WJ springs are fatties.
I've got those 4.5" springs, but that's a good bit higher than what you want.
oh, and buy my bumper.
I think cook put the front springs on the rear. You can get 3" lift RE coils for about $140 shipped. Then put coleman's rear springs on and see how it looks. I'm pretty sure people put f150 coils on them but they don't flex, and I don't think there is a stock spring from anything that will give much lift and still flex. Front WJ or rubicon coils will give an inch or 2 of lift supposedly.
well I ordered a 3" lift from rusty's offroad, half of it came in on friday, and the other half is supposed to be in on tuesday, but I did get the front lifted, I also ordered the lower control arms, bought a parts jeep, got the tires put onto the wheels, but one of them has a ripped bead, so i'm gonna try to get that warrantied if my brother ever finds the certs that were on the tires. Things left to do before TCC: install rear lift, install trans and tcase, weld rear, make sliders, find another 32" tire for a spare, and another 15x8 wheel for spare
Lookin' good Thomas... :gigem:
Ah, internship $$ hard at work I see...
make sure you don't do **** like this :flipoff2:
Made some more progress on it this weekend. Finished putting the rear lift on, changed power steering hose, removed 2wd AX15 and installed the AW4 and NP231, changed wire harness out to accommodate for the auto, put the grill piece back on so I can have headlights again, and found another tire for cheap.
Things left to do before tcc: hook up all the wires, cables, and linkages for the tranny and tcase, install rear brake hose, weld rear, trim rear fenders, install dshafts, make sliders and bumpers.
It still has more flex, I just ran out of height on the tree I was driving up.
i got some more work done on it over the weekend, i got all the linkages hooked up, wires connected, dshafts installed, changed tranny and tcase fluid, changed spark plugs, and did some other small stuff to it
it runs and drives on under its own power now, but it wont start with a key for some reason, when you turn the key you can hear the fuel pump prime, then when you turn it to start nothing happens, the needle in the temp gauge will peg out, i am thinking that its the neutral safety switch, i have been starting it by using a switch that i have that jumps the terminals on the solenoid
things that need to be done before tcc:
install rear brake line
weld rear diff
install aux fan
change out torque convertor bolts
hook e-brake cables back up
