im still working on rebuilding the 60. i didn't expect every wearable part to be completely ****ed
almost done cleaning the housing. also got a pair of add a leafs and 6* shims on, hopefully they'll actually give the front springs arch under weight.
did my pinion tool work
no, it was too small. used impact and a piece of rebar
whats with the welded kingpin caps?
its to protect the grease fitting that screws in. don't want it getting broken off.
ok, i see now, good idea or you could get a flush mount grease fitting, also pretty hard to break off that grease fitting
still debating on tre's or heims.
Go to harbor freight and get one of their beaing puller sets. comes with a two jaw puller and accessories. Take the two jaws and grind the tooth a little narrower on the end, so that it will fit under the bearing in the puller grooves on the carrier. Assemble the puller into position, then get a c-clamp and put it across the two jaws to hold them together on the bearing. Use an impact to crank the puller. You'll have to find/make something to fit the end of the carrier for the bolt to push against. This method works about 61.813% of the time, the rest just have to get a new bearing.
Or get one of these...I'm planning on buying one of these pretty soon...should make gear swaps a bit easier: http://completeoffroad.com/wsm/i-61_...ng_puller.html
i have a puller you can barrow, did you ever determine if that carrier will fit 4.10 gears?
what gears were on the carrier the brake is at 3.92
don't know
Capital bearing over by BOTCO, whats the other one?
