Sounds like a good plan. You could have a really nice blazer again and do it pretty easily.
Or you could destroy another kind of nice blazer again.....Quote:

take new body, put on top of old frame and have a nice looking blazer ,with 8 lugs, and 38.5's you will once again be the envy of all the mall crawlers, and z-71 owners with there bodylifts and 33's.
Tell Mary we are thinking about her!!!!11!
****! Apparently I'm an uncle already! She had to have a C section at 11:00 this morning as the baby never turned. I think William could even make an appearance at the crawfish boil on Sat.Quote:

Said the only thing he did was take the motor/tranny/tcase out of it. Also, he said he didn't take the engine wiring harness, but he did cut some of the connectors off. He also took the computer...
It comes with everything else including the driveshafts. Said he throw the Tcase(np241) in for another 100. It won't match up with my SM465 anyways.
So my question to you bastards...
Do I try to jew him down more or would that piss him off. I could say something like, "Man gas is going to kill me, how about $750"
This is much better than the other one I was going to pay 650 for which didn't include tires, driveshafts, or much of the wiring. Think $800 is a decent price if he doesn't come down?
Also, he said he thinks the guy had it painted that owned it previously. Wish someone was in that area so they could look at it for me.
had it painted means it was in a wreck
well, the hood looks like it was white before, hard telling on the rest of it. It looks pretty damn straight/clean, but looks can be deceiving.
haggle with him. If he says no, move on. It seems like you've been finding some nice blazer bodies around lately, so something else will come up.
Chevies had some bad paint years. I specifically remember the earlier 88-97? body style peeling like crazy. I have no idea if this affected blazers...Quote:

I'd keep it stock with those axles. No need for 1 tons for a daily driver.Quote:

For that vintage (around 91) I know for a fact that chevy had major issues with making white paint stick. My burban's roof was entirely bare metal when I got it and a 91 C/K series parts truck is white and has paint flaking off in a few places.
yea, my 90 had some paint starting to flake off too
i had to put a new paint job on my 91 burban... plus the two-tone on it was ugly anyways... i painted the thing purple
I guess I missed another memo....why do you want this thing for a dd? :confused2 I thought you were wanting another complete blazer because you wanted to swap your drivetrain into it since your current blazer frame is trashed? What's wrong with the F150 for a dd, and why would a blazer be better? I don't think it'll get much better gas mileage, it can't have much more of a towing capacity...
blazer mor fun than f150
Cost about $1500 probably to make that blazer daily drivable including purchase cost and fuel to pick up. f150 worth about $4500. Hide $3000 surplus from wife and spend on corn.
Blazer = $1000ish investmentQuote:

I dont' like the truck and it depreciates everyday it sits there. This blazer would take it's place and is something I'd probably keep around, as I'd sell the truck as soon as I graduate.
Therefore the truck has little utility and this blazer would accomplish the task of what I need for just fine. I'm just trying to take the utilitarian approach to this situation. I can do a line drawing analysis if needed.
now if someone would bite at my trailer wanted ad I'd be set!
So you're going to get a different dd...sell the ford...then build something else with the price difference...
I guess it makes some sense, by selling the ford (something you don't want) you would be able to buy/build two vehicles that you do want. Insurance is probably cheaper on the blazer, but are you going to lose in fuel mileage?
I tried this idea a couple years ago, so I can't say you're totally crazy. I wanted to get a little S-10 or Ranger or some little pickup that got better gas mileage than my ford, sell the ford, then put the money toward the FJ. But after I figured in buying the pickup, fixing problems that i didn't know about when I bought it, hassleing with getting the money I wanted for the ford, paying taxes, etc., i just figured this kind of switcheroo wasn't worth it.
This truck is pretty darn cheap, you've already got an engine/trans combo you know will work, plus other spare parts you can rob from your current blazer, so maybe it'll work for you. :)
Are you still looking for a 69-72 blazer?
yesQuote:

P.S. I hate that class
Same. Although my TA is cool so its not horrible.
My TA is horrible. He exagerates varying the pitch of his voice which is very hard to describe. He takes 10 minutes explaining something that could be explained in 10 seconds. I can't even explain it. I feel rage against this person, and if you know me well, that is quite an accomplishment.Quote:

get it for the grill and hood - i think the early ones are cool and I dont know if they made blazers with them....
So i guess you decided not to get it Only $899

I'm letting him sit on it a little bit. He told me he'd only do $800. Even though thats a decent price, there isn't a huge demand for this crap. Especially since it only looks like he's posting it on that jeep board.
I don't know if it's for sale, but the neighbors at the ranch have this at their place. I know it looks rusty, but I think it's mostly cosmetic from sitting for who knows how long. It's between Eagle Pass and Del Rio - edge of the hill country, start of the Mexican desert.
