take video when you use it b/c I think parts will fly! I bet that drill press has a few thousandths end play in all directions (up/down right/left). It is gonna snag like a hang nail!
I would modify the grinding disc...maybe some kind of steel backing to get rid of the deflection? are there any metal diamond/carbide metal grinding disc.
I would have tried an end mill first.
what size flycutter did you get?

maybe one of these w/ a 1/4" backer plate, run a bolt through the middle hole to clamp the backing to the disc. use the excess bolt to chuck it into the drill press.

I would think that it would end up bieng too thick, and you would be limited to only half the wheel as you would end up hitting the bolt head. On some regular angle grinder grinding disks, they have the recess to keep the mounting hardware up out of the way. The way you talked about the bolt would be real good w/ one of these and you could grind some of the bolt head down if you needed so it would clear.


EDIT: Looking at that picture again, some of those may have a recessed hole in them.

that sounds a little bit like the rotor "discus" through the windshiled olympics we had there last time. . . that you had nothing to do with.

never been an exocage fan, but this one isn't completely hideous, and I wouldn't have had to turn around on that one trail with the low hanging tree at Gilmer. I'm assuming the A and B pillars extend to the frame through the inside like the SD d90 cage

internal cage is pointless on yours. its not a hardcore rig. you dont need the strength, you need the body protection.

God no, that lady scares me. Hutchinson is pretty good though, if not a bit lazy.

scrapped that first idea, here's the redesign. The front looks the same, but the back is different and I eliminated the seperate craddle idea.

Go make one out of cardboard using that template and see what it looks like in real life. :gigem:
