why would you need to?
A little extra rigidity. I've seen a few people do it and was just wondering.
I've seen that as well but wondered if the ram would be too far over on the passenger side to keep it centered with the tierod. I need to mount my ram soon, any other pics of ram mounts?
alright now that i got todays tests done. here's some pics of some work
i found a cluster**** of adapters that'll let me run a chevy saginaw with my stock ford hp hose. it was cheap and i didn't have to go order 50 different hoses to find one that would fit
great work cooke.
drilling out springs for a bigger center bolt bad idea?
only a bad idea if you like your drillbits
the only reason it broke was from the 2.5" springs moving around on a 3" perch, notch the passenger side and make a new spring plate to fit it and make a spacer for the driver side, problem sovled
You can, it'll just eat drill bits. Spring steel doesn't like to be drilled...
**** that I dont have kind of spacers on my front springs. Do your shims have flats machined into them for the bold head to sit on? Mine didnt and when I took them apart to install my add-a-leafs the grade 8 3/8" bolts I had in there had bent severely. I used a grinder and added a flat surface myself. Ghetto? Deffinately, but it works.

If you can put it in a drill press would be even better.
is the hole in the spring plate big enough to encompass the washer? If not, I would be inclined to think that this might put a bit of unneeded stress in there or atleast give the springs some wiggle room they don't need. Take a pic of before and after if you get a chance.
If you need a set of leaves with retainers I will see what I have. On pigpen, I ditched a few of the shorter leafs but kept the leaf that has the retainers on it and ditched a few of the leafs that are longer than the retainer. Make sense? If you want to know more, come get me tomorow night...I'm off east 30 near loop 12...
