I think you would be fine with the 1 1/2 ram but if want smaller you should call PSC I am pretty sure they can make one for you.
This is probably more along the lines of what you need

I'm running an 8" with no stops but it bottoms out on my diff cover. Most people I know that run the 8" have to have stops
I based it off steering stabilizer length, I haven't measured how much it actually uses.
Karl, the box has a piston with a rack on it so it has a similar force imbalance when turning left or right. This may bring it back to neutral.
This guy put a pump off an E150 on his Disco. Same pump that Jeeps and some other stuff used so it should be cheap.

Same pump that myself and JB run.
Does it keep up with your ram? I don't think the zf or tc pump has a high enough volume/rev. Anyone know if that data is published anywhere?
Seems to, but mine is only a 1.5" ram.
I don't see why a 1.5" ram is too big. The kit that psc sells for jeeps is 1.75". Most of the ultra 4 guys are running 1.75", and they need responsive steering for the go fast stuff. If rover axles steering sweep is not 8 or 6.25 psc can make you a uhmw internal stop, or you can make an external one. I had vilas machine me one for mine.

remind me not to wheel with you............but take video
That looks like a saginaw pump. Pretty much everything used it at some point, I'm sure the data for it is posted somewhere.
The e150 pump is a Saginaw pump, just with a ford mounting pattern. They are also easily modified for larger volume and higher pressure, you will need a reservoir though, to keep up.
A 1.5" ram will be fine, but I bet you will find that it may not be enough at times.
we use a 2.25 x 8" on Lynda's with stops. I have a 2.25" x 10" for my new rig with 50 degree steering. It will have internal stops. Use the same pump, plenty of flow, almost too fast.
I have a 1.5" X 6" ram with the saginaw pump and do not need the additional reservoir. It is close but works.
Tommy, that is not a UHMW stop, that is a piece of brass.
