http://houston.craigslist.org/boa/435317289.html engine parts
don't think he needs it, hes got a much sweeter motor thats only got a craked block
i thought he might could use the block and assorted parts

this is the kind of deal I'm looking for. Anyone know if this is a one piece rear main?
my limited knowledge of rear mains is that you can put a one piece in place of a two piece. i think. so they should have put a one piece in, and if they didnt, you prob could?
Sorry, dont know much about Fords, I do know all I need to know about boats though :flipoff2:
is that the eye of katrina?
I think all windsor blocks are the same except deck hieght for 302 or 351
Did yous pistons look like that?

On chevies, no. The one piece mains have a little plate that bolts on the back of the block to hold the seal in while on two piecers the seal is retained by the block and rear cap.Quote:

****ty Motor Supply installs a high volume Melling oil pump and supplies a full engine gasket set with every rebuilt motor.
...I hate having collins bros flashbacks.
So the seal design sucks, will the rest of it work cause that's real cheap. That block with all my pro-boss **** on top? Mainly worried about the flywheel maybe?Quote:

Thats super for city motor supply I had a high volume melling oil pump turn one of my 302's into a giant paper weight. After 30,000 clicks.Quote:

I would also suggest you get the 1 piece oil pan gasket. They cost a little more but they dont leak.
If it made "30,000 clicks" that's probably a machining defect. I mean, clicking out of an engine is never good. :flipoff2:Quote:

someone told me that marine engines have been blueprinted and balanced, while cars are not, but i dont know if its true or not. the guy probably just wanted to sound smart
My machinist told me they are all the same except gaskets and fancy paint unless they are reverse rotation. He doesn't stand to make a profit off the inflated margins at a marina, I think I'll believe him. I'll use the marine cam, so it should be good. The guy dropped the price and is including a bunch of ebay fodder, It's cheap enough I'm going to do the trial and error method to see if it will work. If it doesn't, I have a good core, since that's about where it's priced at.
bad ass - glad to see progress.
Got a small firepit from the parents and bought myself a rebuilt short block for my B-day. Fred, dad, and the roomie went to pick it up tonight since I had important stadium duties. (you should see me shave time at those 8th grade games) Looks tip top, and for $300 it was a Grayson level deal, I'm sure a core charge would have been at least half that. Just by eyeing everything it looks like it should work fine. The two piece rear may leak, but as Fred said, "That's why you have a bilge pump!" :gigem: Now I just have to find some time to work on the POS.
who needs a boat? golfcart seems to work just fine.

Somebody needs to bring a board to alto next time, that would be some good fun there.
Floor was rotten, gutted the *****. Jason helped with the demo work today, just have to pick up some plywood and resin now and make a floor. Wood/fiberglass sucks. It's also going to need some new seats. Fred's got the motor looking tough. Siphoned 17 gallons of awesome out of the alumimum gas tank. A boat is most definitely a hole in the water in which to dump money, but it will be like new when I get done! :gigem:
You using marine grade plywood?
Damn Fred, Lurch looks sexy sittin next to pile-o-**** Jimmy calls a boat. :D
Use starboard, doesn't cost much more. It's a plastic type of board. The scraps make good cutting boards too.
its more expensive
I think it's fully glued, and I think the glue is different too
I looked up the starboard because I was wanting to use something like that. $450 for a 4x8' sheet is what I found. I found 22 sheets of marine plywood here in Dallas for $40 a sheet, but the dude wants to sell all 22 sheets together evidently. I'm going to try to convince him to sell me just 2-3 sheets after work. Anyone want in on a group buy. ;) Grayson said it just needs to be waterproof/boilproof glue whatever that means. I plan on fiberglass resining the **** out of it all. Ideas?
you can probably get sheets of UHMW-pe cheaper than that from mcmaster. Honeycomb aluminium glassed over would be sweet. So would lexan, this is covering the motor, right?
you need some nomex honeycomb, that stuff's cheap.
I think he is trying to redo the floor w/ it.
yes, but is the motor under the floor in this boat?
yes, it's an inboard. The motor isn't under the floor. The floor goes around it and then there is a fiberglass engine cover that sits over it. Have you ever been in a ski boat eric?
