You went through the entire cooling system and didn't replace a $40 heater core? Not trying to say I told you so, but that is definitely one of those "ah f*ck, why did I do that" situations. You just going to try to flush it really good or pull the cooling system all apart to clean it?
good luck trying to get that shiat out. one way I have used to get it out: ball valve and old rad hose as adapter on the outlet of the rad. fill rad up w/ water while out of the truck flat on ground. put the fill cap on the radiator and cover the inlet w/ your hand. pressure up quickly and remove your hand and close yours eyes. stuff will fly out of there. repeat many times. I even put a gauge on one of the extra bungs to make sure I didn't over pressure.
that really sucks. I hope you are right about it just being sand, but that looks like more than a heater core full of crap could make.
Have you checked the oil or looked for a steam cleaned spark plug? Still have that borescope?
That is more than I have ever seen, but at work sometimes vehicles build up a decent amount of goop in the overflow tanks that has to be cleaned out from time to time. pull your heater hoses and fluch that out, and do the same with the rad. I bet you can get most of it out.
does it have dexcool in it? if so you really need to use distilled water or flush it and use regular coolant. also if any part of your cooling system has had any regular coolant in it you need to not use dexcool. u get mud when u mix dexcool and regular antifreeze
interesting. I've only put dex-cool in it but the heater core might've had some regular coolant in it before. I plan on pulling it into the driveway, disconnecting everything and continually flushing it with the water hose. I'll probably fill it up with water several times, drive it warm it up and then drain again.

I have seen some pretty nasty goop in radiators before, but that is by far the worst. I don't doubt it is mostly sediment. The flush will probably do it a world of good.
it looks like radiator stop leak to me. i had to put that stuff in my brand new rad in the scout when a fan ate it.
It's really not goopy, just a foam or froth - like bubbles in a bubble bath. I stuck my finger in thinking that it was thick but it just went through. The water was right below and I was able to stirr the foam into the water to make it dissapearQuote:

so I drained all it all and took the water hose nozzle and sprayed thru the heater core, heater hoses, water pump, and radiator. Took it for a drive to warm it up again, let it cool and it's looking better.
I drained it all again and repeated the process - it's cooling down right now...
Good thing that I "worked" from home today :flipoff2:
As for disposing of the coolant properly? this is the correct way right? To put it in perspective, Kolpecky just moved into a house about a block away in our neighborhood - so it's ok to drain in the driveway around here :gigem:
