Ahh:)
John pulled the pan on the expedition and found a TON of debris/metal shavings. Test drove it and just said it was a matter of when, not if. Going to go ahead and have the Expedition transmission rebuild. Not my money, not my decision.
Worked a good price on the motor+install.
Josh at Baertrax quoted roughly $1200 for an ARB+bearings+R/P+install with a full warranty for my D44. I could get the individual parts cheaper, but he seems to be pretty competitive when you account for install. Plus he has a great warranty.
So as much as I really want to have the D44 in and re-geared with the new engine, I have been telling Junior I would buy his HPD30 for months... I don't want to burn that bridge so I will probably pick that up at the end of the month and try and get the D44 re-geared in early October.
used engine... don't know if it will work with your TJ? i assume its the same.

I bought the 44 in roughly November of 2008. I picked it up from Dexter mid spring 2009.
No, I didn't even know about Juniors HP30 until early this year. I told him for sure I wanted to buy it in June.
I wasn't aware that thrown rods were so common on the 2.5L until I really started looking into it.
