Carrier is the same. Only place you run into issues is like flem said when you have a posi track or an oddball 44 like the JK44 or the HD44 in the WJ grand cherokee/97+isuzu rodeo
all high pinion 44's only use a low gear carrier(High numericly) in pretty sure
No, they use both carrier breaks. I just pulled a low break carrier out of my 77 F150 hp44 when swapping to 4.56. Maybe you're thinking of the issue that there are no "thick" ring gears available for the high pinion like for the low pinion. So there are no r&p's available to use the high ratio on the low break carrier.
The bronco I have has a HP 44, and it has 3.55's in it.
I found this on another website...
so carriers don't matter for high or low pinion, but gears doQuote:
Dana designed the first reverse spiral axle in the early sixties for Ford. Dana released the 44RS for production in January 1965. Early enough to possibly be under a few rare 1965 F100's, however no written confirmation on this has been found. The 44RS was a complete new design in axle, with special design to lube the pinion that was above the fluid level. This axle has also been called the Dana 44 High Pinion, Dana 44 Reverse Rotation, Dana 44 Reverse Cut, Dana 44 High clearance and many more names. A reverse spiral axle has the center line of the pinion contacting the ring gear above the center line of the axle, and thus has different lubrication passages. This axle offers a strength increase over a standard rotation axle while in forward movement. It allows the drive shaft to contact the pinion yoke at a much higher level of connection, thus keeping the drive shaft several inches higher. The gears are not interchangeable with gear sets that are designed with the pinion below the centerline of the ring gear, however the carrier is. Reverse Cut refers to the direction the ring gear is cut for reverse spiral housing. The axiom of the reverse cut is to strengthen the gear while in the front drive axle of operation. Standard cut gears can not be swapped with reverse cut gears, however in the Dana 44 the ring gear carrier can be swapped. High pinion, Hy-Pinion or Hi-Pinion are all slang used in and out of the industry for a reverse spiral axle. High Clearance is a Ford marketing term used for the reverse spiral axle. Reverse rotation: is the single most misused axle term. Reverse Rotation is a slang term used to describe a reverse spiral cut housing. Neither the axle nor the axle shafts travel in a reverse motion, or travel 'backwards' compared to a regular housing. This term only shows the ignorance of the person or company using it.
Looking at shocks, who makes a good one??? Skyjacker Nitro 8000, Fabtech, TeraFlex 9550, Bilstein 5100?????
they all have different applications they are better at. some people like the sway-a-way's due to the external tread top cap, some like foxes for the stanless shafts and cleaner top cap, some like king for the choice between race or prerunner series. in the end there all pretty close, pic a color. this only applys the main 4 shock manufacturers normal in stock stuff, cause some of companies have some neat pure race stuff but its $
Sway-a-ways are external threaded bodies, not caps.
yes the caps are external thread look again that is why you can adjust the tube positions on there bypasses 360 around the shock see the jam nut under the top cap.
what are some cheap local places for headliner replacement in BCS
Take it to Lance at creative audio next to j-codys, 979-268-8272 tell him you are with TAMOR.
Hypothetical... but Detroit Trutrac or Aussie???
Detroit
My Aussie has worked great but if those were my two choices I would pick the Detroit.
I have had some trouble with my yj locking into 4wd. I got it fixed, but here is my question.
Can i slide the locking colar over, tack(weld) it in the locked position, then put manual hubs on it? Good or bad idea?
I know the right way would be to change axle shafts, but i dont want to go to that much trouble/money. I cannot find a theread that talks about doing this. If i can buy a $100 set of hubs, and weld this colar over i may do it, otherwise ill just live with the vac system. I only have 32's and just use the jeep to run hog traps/ go hunting.
I have the vacuum disconnect axle in my xj, I slid the collar over and held it by double wrapping a zip tie on that side. I don't know if I would tack it in place, would be a pain to remove if shaft ever broke. I would not worry about getting a set of hubs and doing all of the extra work. I have had mine this way for many years and no issues.
I wouldn't mess with lockouts, new stuff doesn't even use those or a disconnect anymore
TJ shaft is easy to do if you are willing to change gear oil.
I bet I have a longside TJ shaft that you can have for a case of beer. Doesn't have a sub shaft so you would have to swap over your stub shaft. I am assuming that you have the larger x297 / x760 ujoints
I think only 95 YJ had that size u joint and pre 96 XJs with ABS
Throw a PSL900 at it.
You can't just buy hubs for a YJ axle, they don't take hubs. Hubs aren't good for much anyway, like to break. And if you unlock them, you have to lock them. I lazy.
Just zip tie the collar over like Tommy said, and go kill some piggies.
Thanks, i figured it took more than just hubs but wanted to check. I am leaning twards running a throttle/choke cable to the fork, and using a cable to shift that collar over. I thought about using a hose clamp to hold it in place like Tommy said, but i would still like to be able to unlock it.
Does a ls1 have the same bell housing pattern as a vortec 350?
Yes.
motor mounts are in different locations but you can get adapters cheap or make some.
oh creighton....

my front steering as it sits now
have you had an allignment since the lift? correcting caster, toe etc.... th
Rotors will be being replaced tomorrow. As well as tire balancing. We have seriously checked everything else.
is the brake pedal pulsating when you press on it?
Honestly hadn't thought about it till about ten mins ago. But it would make sense why it's been being caused worse and worse when you use the brake.
Plus she was told in August (when the wobble started) that she needed new rotors. I haven't payed any attention to them really but I think Taylor looked at them today
