should have outboarded the springs a little to get away from that
they may be a little bit cheaper for smaller axles, but i needed some for my d70, you also have to factor in that there is very little if any competition in this town for things like that so it will be more expensive
did you miss the 4" part? no he didn't he ordered from ruff stuff
Ruh Roh Raggy!

:D
ruh roh indeed!
Nice! I couldn't believe you were going to all that work and putting on shatty surplus tires! That's gonna be superpimp
I had hinted to the wife what I wanted for my birthday (said tires above) and in the off chance she didn't pick up on the hint I wanted a back up plan (said shatty surplus tires). I will now have 4 shatty surplus tires for sale soon. :D
Any reason you went with radials over bias?
The bias's in 37" are 13.5" wide, and reported to be even wider than that. I like tall and skinny for the contact patch so I liked the 12.50's which measure a true 12.50. Also I am still going to be driving the Tacoma to and from the trails on occasion when it is just me camping for a couple of days so I wanted to keep the best on road manners I could and still have the Rockers.
EDIT: Looking at the invoice that came in with em, the price difference is damn near negligible, the Bias Ply's are $315 a tire and she got these radials for $321 a tire.
Yeah you'll be psyched to not piss blood if you ever drive it to clayton :gigem:
Ok pulled an H1 apart last night and damn near gave myself a hernia trying to unfawk the PVC insert from within the goodyear MT so I could install the Rockers. HA! I am ASSuming I might need some kind of special tire tools because my two prybars weren't doing the trick. I mounted the tire back on the wheel the way it was. Any suggestions on how ya'll have done these before, since I have absolutely no experience mounting these things?
Also got the Taco Box in last night, it is the only clean spot under the damn truck...

soap, some prybars, and some ass.
turn the pvc sideways and set it on a 5 gallon bucket. Add straight liquid soap. Push down on tire.
My old usa6x6 inserts have a bit of give to them, so they are much easier to put in and take out than a true piece of pvc pipe.
It is not easy to do, but they way Ed described is sorta like I did mine. Two people make it easier. I placed the insert on its end, soaped up tire, placed tire on top of insert, then you kinda have to stand on top of the tire, balancing yourself on something, and then bounce up and down, it will usually pop right on, if you don't fall off first.
Jesus that sounds like a pain in the ass.
It's not so bad a pain if you just spit on it a few times...
(Mine is very easy I think compared to some folks horror stories. I have a bit more ass to throw at than most though.)
i just put the two halves in mine and bolted them together. easy enough.
You used cut down mag runflats, no?
yep
Get full sized man tires. Then you can run them with the full runflat, no issues. :flipoff2:
some people are able to get by on half-assed. the cruzer is a prime example.
Please John, really? You're such low hanging fruit. I'll start with an easy one...
Some people like to fab more than wheel. Ranger1 is a prime example.
:flipoff2:
is that supposed to be an insult?
So after some work last night I take delivery of her today. I added one more thing to the project last night that I wasn't expecting, I did a u-bolt flip kit in the rear lat night, brought my shocks from mounting below the axle to above and I think I improved my droop on each side by about 3-4". I will test it out on some kind of ramp hopefully soon.
That's 14"s of sexiness

Cross Member and Skid Installed

Current Ride Height, a little tall but manageable. I think the springs in the front will settle the half inch needed to make it level.

looks good, now you just need to put the new tires on it and git some good psoer shots
what did you ever do about that front u-bolt? It still looks bent to me.
It still is bent.
I am going to look into replacements.
new cage? Looks pimp!
Nah, thats the same bed and roll bar that has always been on it, but thanks I think it looks good too :D
Yay for Poser shots!
**** left to do:
-Clearance twin sticks a little better (bitch is popping out of four high on deceleration)
-Mount the Rockers
-Install PSC Power Steering Pump
-Extend Bump Stops one more inch in the front
-Wheel the sumbeech again
Tested the suspension on the trailer for the bump stops and grabbed the poser pics

He's a handsome man, he must have had one ugly milk man back in the day! :flipoff2:
For a yotard, it's looking good Chris. I hated to see the IFS go, would have been nice to see you wheel the piss out of it!
I did wheel the piss out of it, that is how I blew it up!
Ok after talking to 406 YJ over on Pirate for a good long while about tearing these wheels apart, I am going to attempt it tomorrow. I wanted to justify doing it myself so I called two local "off-road" shops this morning and one told me it was too much effort for them and the other quoted me $320 for all four. I am glad they made up my mind for me!
Got two done today. This ****ing blows. In the future I am just ordering new PVC inserts when I change tires. Thank god these tires are damn near disposable!
It will be easier next time you do it. It took me about an hour a tire to dismount old SXs from the H1 rims and install them on my IROKS
which runflats/inserts are you using?
406 yj's PVC inserts. Suckers don't bend or flex at all. They are super easy to get into the new rockers they are just a bitch to get out of the stiff ass goodyear mt's. I am tearing up the beads pretty good.
You're not spitting on them near enough. ;)
*** actually I am using KY. No joke works like a charm in getting the inserts in the new tires!
