It looks about 60 miles from BV. Maybe we take an early morning trip to get it.
you could go pick it up thurs morning

or, what about spending Saturday night in the area and pick it up that night and then we can just jump to Colorado Springs and run down 25. I am just talking out loud right now,
Yeah, we could pick it up just about any time, and if you need a place to store it and 218 is full ( ) then I could probably store it out at my place for a while.
so do we need to make any kind of camping reservations? There is a big hot air balloon thing going on that weekend, so we should probably insure we have a place to stay.
i still need to ask him again if it is ok to take / buy from his scrap pile.
i will get back to you on it.
i was just going to take it to dexter :flipoff2:
if we are going to go by there i should go with you, its my families land (since like the 1850s) my great uncle (uncle ernie) is the one that owns all that land and the vehicles.
i will let you know, if definetly can not go to my house right now.
whats funny about that is that truck has been in colorado since the 20s and barely has any rust... i wonder how fast texas can finish it off?
if we need to i am sure we could camp out at the ranch... i would just need to call him
Ernest is a BAD DOODE they do not make people like that anymore. hell it would be cool to just stop by and bull**** for a little while even if i do not take a vehicle home
go watch and old john wayne movie and then imagine chuck noris beating the crap out of him... that is ernest (well use to be, he is pretty chill now)
here is the link to some photos i took when i was up there for my grandmas funeral http://picasaweb.google.com/jcooperc...doOctober2007#
the land use to be my great grandpas (the national park next to it was his), before that his parents were homesteaders in the area, and my grandma was born in the log cabin that the truck is parked next to.
ernest and his sons own a construction company up there, they use to blast all the mountains with dynomite to build roads, now his sons run it and he just chills and runs cattle.
Boy oh boy, I think we may have some super secret skunkworks **** going down for this trip. It looks to be most AWSOME if it goes into production!

Sweet, J is 99% going.
This should be quite the eye-opening experience for him:gigem:
I would buy that fridge if it is for sale.
i dont think he really wants to sell any of his crap, i think he is a bit of a pack rat... you should see inside the old cabin that he grew up in.
trust me that fridge would be in my garage if he was willing to part with ****.
that fridge actually works perfect.
one good thing is he seems to not like any of his kids or grand kids... but for some reason he loves me.
i heard him tell somebody that i was the only one that was worth a **** in the whole family. ***
holy cow this thread had blown up. I was planing to be in Vegas at the first of June, may need to swing through for this.
You should come,we could always use on more person
on a side note, how many trail seats/ people do we have ed?
I show 8 rigs, and 14 people (including the two already in CO.) That should be plenty of room w/ my rumble seat.
I think I may be missing a couple of people, not sure though.
You don't remember Mr. and Mrs. Clause in Clayton??? :D
That should give us almost 7 seats (if we can cram some of the anorexic fellers in the rumble seat or you can use it as an excuse to get real close with J and break him in right and I even have some banjo music on the Ipod ;) )
I doubt lu or jones will be there. I wouldnt count them out just yet, but i'd put it at like 10% either of them will be there, especially lu.
Either way, it's still a boatload!
Per my Colorado Roadtrip 2008 thread, I could not complete Tincup Pass due to snow on July 14th. The trail fooked up my ****, but would would not be a hard trail, mostly just scenic.
google banana belt. The BV area doesn't get much snow, regardless what the rest of colorado is getting.
regarding "scenic drives" I don't think that's a good idea. Take the shortest, straightest route and enjoy the scenery once you get here. I typed out my thoughts on routes to take in a PM to Ed a few weeks ago, may get motivated to type it again later
Haven't talked to Lu. Thought SEMA was that weekend?
We'll start with a keg and see how that goes :D
50 through canon city shouldn't be too bad. You get to go past the prison
looks like will probably go for a few days, I am going to be driving a certain green VW product Creighton ;)
