Well, the way I understand it, the 12" was an upgrade or HD version offered in the 70's and 80's. I was just wondering if it would fit on the same flywheel as the 11 as I am almost positive that is what is in there.
You are right though, I don't need a clutch that is designed for high HP, but having one that is built with better material than the off the shelf napa special might be good while I have it apart.
Some clutches last longer than others. Stock is usually good unless the stock clutch blew.
I'm going to replace mine in the spring with a stock trd clutch, they usually work well for ~100K, heard of some centerforces only lasting ~40K on the taco boards. I'd like to try out a ceramic clutch, but don't have the skrilla.
we have a od green blazer running around here that one of the other civilian companys uses to haul their gear around in (they work on the electronics in the HMMWV's and such), and I was wondering if the blazer frame was the same as the shortbed truck... if so, i could use it as a handy tool to go and take measurements off of,
u think they would let me shackle flip it and soa with some rocks and 53's??????
The frame is the same from the doors up to the front clip. Behind that they are different. The frame maybe the same in the back, just shorter, but i have never compared.Quote:

I slipped up on it today with a tape measure and it has a 108" wheel base on it, so thats about 10" shorter than the beast. It has the 48" springs up front and they have no offset front or back on them. I didn't check the rear, will get to that tomorrow. This gives me a chance to look at what space and clearances I might have on mine, don't know why I didnt think of this sooner. We have a cucv truck here too. Might go check it out later also.
CUCV's give me wood. The rear springs in the blazer should be 52"er's, but they might be 56's.
what size lugnuts are on the 60/70s, are they all 9/16" or do they come in a variety of sizes
I have a old dana 60 with 1/2-20 lug nutsQuote:

Hell, I am not real crazy bout lugnuts anyways, last time I went wheelin at alto there were only 3 on each tire when I blew the u-joint. ;)

an 85 chevy 60 has 9/16"
I just got off the phone with him, and they are both 1/2" studs.
On another note, does an 85 clutch master cylinder have the little plastic cup on it, and if it does, where is the best place to get this. I am tryin to get him the parts for the hydro conversion, but looks like the master doesn't come with it. I guess advance can probably order it if they dont have it.
I got both the master and slave from o'reillys. The hose is not available at any parts stores that I'm aware of. It may not even be at the dealer. I got one of mine at bryan hose and gasket for around $20.Quote:

Does UPS run on Thanksgiving?
Well, just ordered ordered the hydro-assist kit and high steer from off-road design. I had not planned on having all of the trouble we are into right now as the ford just went back into the shop, and the mechanic is about 2 weeks behind on the chevy. I am thinkin it is not gonna make clayton. It might, but I am just going to concentrate on gettin the heep ready and gettin down to crosby to get the pete.
anybody want a good deal on a dually????? :flipoff:
more to follow on all this after we get back from my little bro's basketball game down in jarrell tonite.
what went wrong on it now?
he hasnt been able to get the right calipers, and hasnt even pulled the transmission to put the new clutch/hydro clutch or put the atlas on. It will still need driveshafts and shackle flip. I am not worried about the hydro assist. I will discuss later, we are super late :D
heads again on the ford
i think

Ed make sure if they do the heads they are putting new head bolts or studs whatever it has. Most of these new engines those bolts/studs are a one time use only.
Thats not a "new" diesel thing 6.2s have torque to yield bolts...Quote:

It was a busted push rod. I am going to take it and see what the cheby house will give me for it and try to order a D-max and be done with it. I should be able to get some good financing I hope.
anybody have suggestions on what callipers to use on the D60. The ones we are getting have a funky mounting position for the brakeline, seems it will interfere with the kingpins.
Now that funnyQuote:

Yes they are bad dudes but you cant put them on a chevy knuckle.
After some research, I think that part of the problem is that we are trying to fit the 10 bolt brake lines on there, and the rotors are 1.5"s thick and I need to figure out what brake pads to use. I am going out to the barn in a minute to see if the green 60 has the calipers and pads on it. If not, they are in the shed somewhere and I may just use some old pads till I figure it all out.
Wait a f'ing minute. The brakelines from the 10 bolt WILL bolt to the D60. They might have different sized banjo bolts but I dont remember, I'm prety sure they do though. Why should you be having any problem finding the right pads? You're confusing the **** out of me here.
when I put the pads in the calipers and try to put them on the rotor, the space between the pads is approximately 1/4" to small. I think we will be able to make the brake lines work, it will just take some grinding on the little tabs to get it done. I never made it to look at the pads for the other 60, so going to do that in a minute, i will report back as soon as I do.
Are you sure the piston in the caliper is compressed completely? I had no troubles with brakelines when swapping from the 10 bolt to the 60.
I found the calipers from the other 60, and looks like it is going to work. I think I just had the wrong callipers to start with or something. I will research if there is a way to do a reverse look-up from the caliper numbers. I am about to head up to the shop after I mount the 44's on the h1s, so we may have it on the rubber this afternoon, if so, I will pick it up and bring it home tonite or tomorrow to finish it up.
