Barnwell mtn is about 3 1/2 hours away
Trail use is $20 per day per trail vehicle
Camping is $10/night primitive, $20/night with power
annual membership is $40/year and your gate fees are waived for the first weekend; camping additional. Plan on spending $40 if your driving both days plus $20 to camp Fri and Sat ($16 if you buy a membership).

are we still planning on working? if so, other than a shovel and gloves is there anything else we should bring??

I can't seem to get any more input from them on whether they want us to work or not, but yeah bring gloves and a shovel or bow saw or whatever you've got and we'll see when we get there.

How long of a drive out there is it?
