I can honestly say I've only seen a few chevy's from those years that I've liked. One was the one cajun built, another is that orange and white one that won TTC a few years ago, and a heavily abused red one on 38s that you used to see in pics from the hammers in california

Too justify this to myself it's got to cost around a $1000 total. This includes a freon charge, gas to get there and back, and any other little things that it might take.
It does look like I could spend a weekend getting it running, and then another weekend getting the AC, etc... going and have a decent daily driver.
I wouldn't mess with the axles, just leave it like it is and drive it.
