That is the idea that would one drive their rig to the trail. In this club you are only cool with a tow rig and trailer! ;)

maybe you should learn to be a more efficient packer
i dont need this as an extra vehicle either... it is for the trail and the fact that it is newish and has low miles makes me feel more comfortable about it on the trail. I dont need much power just lots of gearing
do it.
rant on: I love how this club never likes the way that someone is building something. It is not that way that I would do it but it is not my jeep. I am just glad that someone in this club is actually building something new that will actually wheel. I haven't seen any of the new members build something that will ever see the trail and be as capable as this jeep will be even with leaf springs.
Everyone has to start somewhere with a rig and this is a start, if a couple years down the road he decides that he wants to link it and add coilovers he can. Maybe 4 links front and rear aren't feasable with his budget right now and he would rather have a 4 speed atlas. I understand that he will go more places with leafs and gearing than 4 link and no gearing.
rant off: :flipoff2:
Look up what tank Scott used in Lynda's jeep. It is under the body where it is supposed to be.
As far as storage you could always just take the DavidO approach and tack-weld all your nuts in so you only have to carry one toolbag with an adjustable crescent wrench and your lunch in it. :flipoff2:
see that right there is good tech
I was just dragging the dana 30 out of the way and took a look at the lower control arms. they are fubared also... wouldnt have noticed if I hadnt pulled the axle... would have been a crappy first trip back to the trail if I had just replaced the uppers
How wide are your frame rails? Ford makes a good sized pancake tank that might work for you and is already setup for efi.
wider than the bronco in the rear.... but i am making some changes to the leafs in the back to lower it so not sure how much space I will have. for now I am going to just move the tank to the back. I will finish up the rest and come back to the fuel cell once I find out what room I will have under there
Sorry, I retract my previous statement. I'm not sure if a TJ with leaves on all four corners has ever been done. You are an innovator!
it will one day be linked... i just would rather have the atlas now and link it next year
32s
yeah and he tore the whole front suspension literally to pieces.
Oh you need to pick up a winch, the warn m8000 has worked great for me and is pretty cheap
You have to give it to him though, he didn't do it until he was on his way home. :D
(in retrospect, had he not flat towed, he may have parked it and not found out how bad it was until he was in the middle of a new trail at katemcy 2 ;) )
Well today wasn't the best day. We are having some problems with the baby so the Dr put my wife on bedrest until he comes. This means an extra 2 months off work for her that puts a 10k dent in our income. Plus Medical expenses are going to be much higher than we were expecting. I am going to put the stock axles back in the jeep and sell it. After we recover from this financially I will buy something new and go from there. But when things like this happen you have to weigh what is most important. Hopefully I will be able to get something new later this year but that all depends on how these next few months go.
Good luck to you, my sister had to be on bed rest for 3 months. Sucks about the jeep, but let me know if you need a trail seat!
sorry the hear about that, I hope that everything goes well
Tell her we wish her well. Jeep, or wife and baby, that decision makes it self. ;)
X2 Tate. Please let us know if you need any help or anything. That does suck but take care of her and y'all can pull through.
sorry to hear this, i hope all goes well
Good luck with the kiddo man, and I wish you all the best luck.
Sucks to hear. Good luck you you both. You definitely have your priorities in order.
How much for the Jeep without axles or suspension?
I am putting it back together with the stock axles and 32's... Going to try and get $12,500 for it
do you have good controll arms, are there any stock parts that were fubared that you need. i may be able to get my hands on them
still have the welded rear?
I need both upper and lower control arms, a dana 30 yoak, and the front piece of the driveshaft and yes the rear is still welded nicely
I can hook you up with (at least) the control arms. I'm pretty sure we have an abundance.
I would unweld the rearend, that screams ghetto off-road rig to potential buyer.
I thought the same thing, but figured there was no point to sayin anything...
it wouldn't be too hard you would just have to find some new spiders for the rear and and pull the welded ones out
i may have some control arms but if brett can get them to you then that would work, if the yoke is the same as cj 30's then i have a dozen and you can have one
thanks guys. for the rear end I will probably swap out the carrier and spiders for open ones.
Brett let me know about the control arms. How much for a set?
