I was actually wondering about the 'Bago's ability to tow the Klogger. I guess this will be the test?

I have towed my parent's 1999 tahoe 4 door for 4 hours at highway speeds (65mph). Interweb research shows the tahoe weighs around 5500 lbs and the internet does not lie. A bone stock 1982 F-150 with V8 and 4WD tips the scales at around 4200 lbs. Now I removed the bed, but added a crew cab, so call that a draw. I added 1 tons, compared to a TTB 9" thats a few hundred pounds plus 42" tires. I think I am sitting at 5000 lbs on the klogger, keyword think. As long as there is no crosswind the wind resistance should not be an issue as the klogger tucks behind the camper.
The bago is equipped with brake controller, a 460, a C6, and a dual rear end capable of holding down 10,000 lbs, so as long as the rest of it does not fall apart and I keep feeding it gasolline, it should go.
Who is leaving from Aggieland after 4PM?
There is a chance I will make it if the Bronco doesn't overheat! I miss me some Shiloh Ridge :)
Holy ****
leaving cs around 4
leaving houston sometime before 630
Creighton and I are in route.
Probably not going to make it now. White truck is out of commission. A motorcycle flew into it...
 !!!
we are eating, and about to hit the road. Had to wait for one to finish up with his football game tonight.
Alive and exhausted. Damn good trip. I will be hungover for a week.

It was a good time, no doubt!

Frick's Creation "The Nasty Bastard" - Nothing Broke....
WTF is this world coming to?
Correction: the beer bottle in the hood ornament pumkin broke!
Good times! Nice seeing everyone. Next time I bring something trail-able.
damn, wish I could have made it. Some ahole knocked a motorcycle into me on the way out of town. My rent a truck doesn't have a hitch either.
Chet wanted me to post up and ask if anyone found a few extra tools off his truck.
3/8 MAC ratchet
SNAP-ON extension
9/16 SNAP-ON deep socket.
Let me know.
Man I hope those tools show up, that guy was super cool letting everyone use his stuff, it would suck if he lost out on the deal.
I agree. That does suck. I will check my stuff to be double sure but I'm pretty sure I don't have anything extra.
Tommy make it back? Havent seen him post up yet. I am guessing it did pretty well aside of not being locked.
Yes, however I never got it back, so I would not say I loaned it...
Yep, made it back by 1.
I'm pretty damn proud of my bronco. I wheeled the **** out of it (especially after dark and many beers) and it drove home just fine. I think for what it is, it did damn well.
Got the rear diff apart on the Honda. The pinion bearing let go. The pinion gear is still intact, but could be replaced. It needs bearings/seals/pinion probably. Guy on eBay in La. will rebuilt it with new Honda bearings/seals and good used ring/pinion for $350ish. $220 if it doesn't need the r/p. Will be deleting all of the rear drum stuff as well when I get it back together.
The motor runs great and it has plenty of power for me. Say I spent $350 on the rear diff, another $250 on a disc brake conv. for the front, another $200 or so used 12" wheels/tires that the disc brake swap requires and I have another 800 in it. Way more than I want to spend on it as a beater ATV, but way cheaper than a new one.
There are some ATV junk yards in Houston. Don't see how you can't fix the rear end yourself. Lot of shipping to CA and back. I have a set of 25s on 12s, Kawasaki Brute Force wheels, 90% tread at least.
La. = Louisiana and I only pay to get it there. The bearing/seal kit I need will run around $90 and it would not include everything I need. Still think I might do it myself. Any junkyard rear end will probably be in similiar shape. This is apparently a pretty common problem with the Honda diffs. Got offered a 00ish Rancher with smoking motor but recently rebuilt rear for $500. I think the rears are different though.
Damn, you sure you want it back? What was the extent of the damage?
a pic please
harley road king hit me on the driverside fender at about 25. jacked up the grille, bumper, wheel, door, trashed the fender, etc. all body damage.
Got the Honda back togther. If you ever need a Honda diff, search David Ham Auto Care out of Louisiana. I sent him mine, he send me a rebuilt one. Got it all back together and removed all of the rear brake stuff Runs and drive great. Going to do the disc brakes and then I will need some 25" tires for some 12" wheels, for a 4 lug Honda bolt pattern
Ready for the next trip! New toy. Now part of the beater 4wheeler club. :)

NICE! :gigem:
You pull it with your miata or motorhome?
skins look to nice to be part of the beater club :)
Miata. I'm putting the helper bags on this weekend. :) I towed it back with the MDX that had done well with jetskis locally, but was grumpy about the 100 mile trip back at (my) highway speeds. Maybe time for an upgrade soon.
It's actually in really good shape. The PO (2nd owner since 2005) is a really-nice-engineer-anal-car-guy-scoutmaster type. So that's a plus. Came with the trailer, tongue lock, tie down straps, trailer spare, Honda tools, and owners manual. The full Alto Starter kit. :D
