I've had them for a few years and they do ok on rocks, not so much in mud. The side lugs have chunked really bad from Katemcy and the overall tread depth isn't very deep.

they really excel on logs!
The last few years I've just cut a bunch - like 5 or so - all in Clayton... They work pretty well, just don't tend to last long. I'm thinking about switching to something with stronger sidewalls. It really sucks to leave a sweet trail only because you've already cut two tires...
Come to think of it, its more like 6 in the last ~3 years?
didn't you cut 2 at 47 that one day?
and were those what you were running at the katemcy kickoff in 06? I believe you cut two there also.
... and he keeps buying them :flipoff2:
His TCFS attitude won't let him have a mismatched set. If he just realized he would ruin the rest of them in short order, it wouldn't be mismatched for long. :flipoff2:
Forgot to mention that dad mocked up the m12000 on the front and said it was a no go. Ended up being too big to mount on the bumper so I'm looking at other options. Thinking xd9000i or m8000.
I had a friend in High School that had an M12000 on his TJ. I thought it was a bit ridiculous when we built the mounting plate for it, but he did get it for free.
I have a 9.5XP Warn and wouldn't go any other way, would be a good fit on the front of a Jeep :gigem:
i have that 12000 lb mile marker that i won up in clayton and it fits in the same winch mount that i had my 8500 ramsy on.
are the warns just that much bigger?
Yeah, the body on the M12000 I believe is the same footprint as the M15000. It's a big *****.
they have different gears m12000 261:1 m15000 315:1 same motor though
About to head home to finish it up. Couple more pics dad sent me.

sweet - you paying your dad or something:D
Looks like he's making some pretty good progress, might not let you drive it now...
Stopped by Bill's around noon today to see how the paint was coming. Should be laying the blue down right now. They did a great job on the body work, used flat stock on the upper portion of the body line and solid round stock around the fender lip. They also finished the interior bedsides, used fiberglass to fill in certain areas around the cage. The whole interior of the tub is getting bedlined.

Had planned on just buying a new tailgate since it used to look like swiss cheese, looks a ton better.

If you haven't caught on this is the same shop that builds the dragsters and who built the first cage as some of you may remember. So now for the things I'm skeptical about but will just have to test out.
As I mentioned earlier I had planned on a y pipe to single muffler setup kept tucked up. Well things changed. Ended up being a dual 2 3/4" to flowmaster 40's exiting under the driver and passenger floorpans. With such a tight frame rail width the exhaust had to be routed under the frame behind the front shackles. That's not an issue however as I'm pretty sure I now have the stoutest behemoth of rocksliders/boatsides/skidplate ever which covers the exhaust and stak.
The pics I'm posting are not the finished product. There are a few other plates still being added that angle upwards to cover the downtubes and help in sliding over rocks. Overall the skidplate will only hang a few inches below the frame rail, most of the whole piece is boatsides. I'm extremely happy with the work they have done as it's always top notch. I'm looking forward to testing it all out. If I run into any issues I can always go back and change it.

Sweet! What color is it? Gray? Silver? Glad you got rid of the blue and silver. Trying to make that look good was a losing battle. :)
Well actually it is still blue and silver, bright blue to be exact. :D Cage, bumpers, grill hoop are silver, body gets the bright blue.
I came up with the idea of this color scheme from the chevelle. I really like the light blue and decided to paint the jeep the same. We're planning on painting the nova in a matching scheme to make our family race team look the part.
Here's a pic I snapped of the paint about to be mixed.

can't wait to see it on the trail!
Might have to take a joyride up to Conroe...
Paints finished picking it up tomorrow morning and bringing it home to finish the electrical.
it looks ok...i guess :(
looks pretty damn good this time:flipoff2:
Thanks guys. :)
Picked it up this morning and it looks awesome. There are a few spots that need to be touched up but it will get taken care of in the next couple of days when they come out to our shop to mount the skidplate and bedline the inside.
I'll post some pics tonight when I get back to CS, gotta get back to electrical.
Made progress on the electrical. Dad was still going at it when I had to leave for CS to study.
I really like how the paint turned out. As I mentioned earlier a couple of the guys will be coming out to install the skidplate and make touchups to the paint sometime this week.
I told dad I wanted the chassis/axles painted blue as well. It came out looking great but I'm going to paint certain suspension, axle, and steering parts silver to match the cage and bumpers. The sliders/skidplate are getting painted silver as well. That will help to accent areas and break up the blue undercarriage which seems a little overwhelming on the eyes right now.
The plan is for dad to continue working on electrical and have it done by wednesday. I will get back to thrashing on it after class on tuesday. Hopefully fire it up on thursday.
Pics...

Electrical... Dad made the panel housing the relay and fuse boxes. He built a frame up under the dash with arms that allow the panel to swing out for access.
The man hard at work.

Looks badass man. :gigem:
That color is actually reeeally close to the color I decided I'm painting my gladiator. A '70s era AMC color called Big Bad Blue.
Had to wait on remounting the fuel cell and trans tunnel cover until the inside of the tub gets bedlined. In the meantime I worked on punching the harness holes in the firewall and mounting the killswitch.
You can see one of the harness slots on the right.

Don't park this thing near the woods. The mice would have a field day with that ****!
Wiring looks good Robbie. The blue flowmasters.....not so much. :flipoff2:
Thats alot of blue, looks kickass though:gigem:
Ah, OK. It looks better than I thought that scheme would. Pretty cool man! That's a lot of blue!
panel mount is pretty sweet, it swings out like a discovery relay panel
Thanks guys. I have to give props to Bill, his crew, and my dad for their awesome work.
The skidplate will cover the exhaust so all you will see are the polished turndowns. I think the undercarriage will look good with the skidplate being silver as well as the parts I'm going to paint like I mentioned.
Bill looks like the kind of guy you wouldn't cross. I'm betting he's said the phrase, "**** you, pay me!" before.
no inner fenders? whats your thought behind that?
look good, but do you have any recovery points on the front?
