well the jeep got mostly put back together the other day. I spent the extra time to clean everything really well and hit it with some paint. still need to hook brakes back up and driveshafts and repair oil pan. still need to swap out the welded rear too(if I end up doing that) and get new yoke and front driveshaft. I think I am going to warrenty out the two front tires too... they got pretty eaten up when the control arms gave out

I drilled out the yoke and canadian rigged it... it is 4wd again... I wouldn't wheel it this way though... bet it wouldnt last long... I really need to hit the yards
did you drill it out and put ubolts on instead of straps? if so I bet it would last pretty long as long as the nipples are still there on the side
no i drilled it enough to reverse the broken bolts out... only half the threads left
shouldn't be too bad, no easy out? I used to use them and the bolts would come out pretty easy
used easy out... had to use drill bit with it... the cutting part wasnt making any progress
well I guess I get to keep this thing afterall.
had some time to think about what direction I want to go. I am now thinking instead of the atlas 4 speed I will go with a 4:1 kit and a slip yoke eliminator kit to keep it cheapish. I want to 4 link the rear right off instead. I figure I can just run a TJ long arm kit on the front axle to keep it simple. Going to wheel it a couple more times while I gather up what I need to swap in the bronco axles.

Busa has gone thru several sets of 4:1 gears in his 231. I would not suggest that route...

So 4:1 gearsets are weaker than stock sets so you should build a 231 300 doubler. Burris should be able to get you a good deal on a d300 as well

i dont have a trailer. i tried the tree trick with two 2x4's and they snapped. I drove it mostly out. I just had to stop jack it up and slide the shaft back in every 10-20 yards. the tow truck was to get me home

will have one for sure before Clayton this year. looking for deals. I would love a GN but seeing as they are much more expensive and there is noone from SA to fill the extra spot I don't know if I will go that way.
I ordered most of what I need to 4-link the rear. Hopefully parts will come in not long after I get back home to Texas.
What kind of joints did you go with?

1.25" Johnny joints. Mason is doing great. He has proven he can handle 1000 miles of driving in a day a couple times in the last couple weeks. Just 500 to go tomorrow and we are home.
Btw. Don't stay at microtel inn & suites in baton rouge. This place is gross
