I don't like mtr's an had no problems destroying front shafts in Clayton or katemcy with 35" bfg's. That being said, it's not my truck!
People run 37s on 44s all the time. People also kill Dana 60 shafts with 35s. It all comes down to driver and luck sometimes. Just keep spares around.
The IH 345 V8 weighs 750ish lbs. That's heavier than a Big Block Chevy. Hang that over the front 44 and 35" tires kind of become the upper limit on tire size, unless you just really like changing broken shafts.
So what Fred is saying is, a 5.3 swap is also in order. :)
Sam cant even hook up jumper cables. If he does a 5.3 swap it will probably have a Q-jet and distributor on it!
I thought this thing had some nice fat manly tires on it last I saw. I would take dry rotted TSLs over MTRs in most situations. That dry rot is just on the surface, burn them a little and new rubber will be exposed.
The problem is there are only 3 of them that have intact sidewalls.
buff it out :D
we're going to see if the other one can be patched by some Mexicans
It cannot be patched, but as luck has it, I have a couple of spares, so I am going to run them until after Alto at least
Matching tires are not a requirement for Alto. I think you'll still pass the safety inspection.
I have an extra 35x12.50 BFG mud terrian. What if you put the 2 mud terrains on the front to take some stress of the front shafts and increase steering and ran the TSL's in the rear. I think it would be an awesome setup.
So I found a 35-16-16.5 bogger on the tire trailer in the back the other day. Since I could not find a new 16.5 5 on 5.5 bolt pattern rim, I decided to make one, klogger style

I got about a third done with the front side when I ran out of gas, guess ill finish up in the morning
That is way nicer than Klogger style.
Nice work!
Nice. I'd be willing to bet that wheel is capable of handling more speed than a bogger can.
My thoughts exactly

Finished front side, now gonna let it cool, then throw the tire and some paint on it
Man, now my klogger wheels aren't special, they're just the big retard version.
Sam, did you take the tire off of that other wheel before you plasma cut the center off? Ever seen videos of pyrolysis?
Are you talking about the tire cooking?

Just drove it down the road, no wheel wobble at all
So do you have boggers on both of the rears?
It's the same size as the other 3, and no, just one bogger
$30 of welding on a $10 wheel? :D
These wheels are inferior to Klogger wheels. The klogger wheels are welded and bolted together for extra strength. The klogger wheel adapters are made from 3/8" plate, this is a gas saving feature, as once you are at speed it allows you to coast for longer periods...
You fix that rear shaft yet? Locker survive?
He broke the.scout but instead of fixing it and wheeling he got a dog to play with.
I havent been able to open it up yet, I didnt have any money to buy the bearings last week, and i got a puppy this weekend. It will get fixed by the end of the month
