Used MTR's or New M/T's from Denman?

There's a guy across my complex who has some MTR's at his other place out of town. He said he took them off and put his stockers back on because he got sideways on the highway while going appr 80 MPH. He's offered to sell them for $600 w/5,000 less miles on them. Then I'll have to pay for mount and ballance (appr $50 - $70).

Then there are these Buckshot Maxxis Mudders (new radials from Denman) from this small town shop I could get for $103/tire plus mount & ballance. They are both the same size (285/75R16 ~~ 32x11.50R16).

I guess my big concern is mileage. I've heard these Maxxis tires are pretty decent and they get better than average miles. But I've also heard Goodyear are famous for giant mileage numbers (plus they are much more aggressive). But they've already got 5,000 miles on them (or so he says. maybe more). I drive a 99 F-150 4x4 ext cab. He drives a '02 F-250 CC 4X4.

I have 33x12.50 MTRs and before that 35x12.50 GY MTs. I would go with the GY. This is what most people are going to now and I've been really impressed with mine both on the street and off highway. I have ~10,000 miles on mine and they have just started to show wear. I don't know what you drive but that probably makes a difference too. My truck weighs somewhere between 4500-5000lbs so if you have a Jeep they'll probably go even further.

I dont know how Collins got great mileage on MT's I had a pair of 33's on my truck and they died around 10,000 miles. granted my truck weighs about 6200 lbs. empty, but I just didnt have any luck with em.

I have 15k on my 33" MT/R's with trails, l*** drives, and towing a trailer a couple of times. I think they are the best tire for the money. Point of fact, I will be selling mine soon, 4 with 15k and 1 new, and looking to move up to 35 or 37. If you drive on the street, they are great.

I'm still not sure why you're going to spend good money on those peices of poo. If you're not going to buy swampers, just spend $75 and buy these instead. (those are 37" Boggers)

well, those look like military hummer tires, so he would probably have to go to 16.5" wheels to run those cheaper pieces of poo

I personally have no experience with any of those tires, but my dad had Maxxis Mudders on his '99 3/4 ton GMC 4x4 and they were great tires in mud, but hell on the street. He got about 5000 good miles out of them before they started getting an odd wear pattern and got VERY loud on the highway.

Iv been running the buckshot maxxis mudders on my jeep since early last June and have had no problem with them. They do great on the street and reallly good on the trail, not to mention that you can air down to about 6 psi. I have about 6,000 miles on them and they have probably 3/4 of the tread left. This was a daily driver for the last half of summer and entire first semester. Their pretty good tires i think considering they were only $95 a piece.
