how many miles did you get out of yours
68000 on the ones on there now. 2 died from sidewalls getting torn up due to wife driving it for a year and bashing curbs.
how would yall mount the crossmember?

plate the ends of the cross member, and run bolts horizontally through frame rails
or built a bracket above/below cross member and run bolts vertically through the ends of the cross member?
thinking of building it out of 1.5"x3"x3/16"

there are a bunch of old school chassis design books in evans, and the ones I read state this is the way to go.
45* will prob. work, but there are some calculations like an intersecting line at the cog.
This is what I wanted to do to the sunbeam, but space constraints made me do it the way you first posted. The engine mounts are done similar.

then there is this way. but i dont like the way it mounts(read too much on breakage) and lack of full protection. seems like the case would still suffer from a shock.

depends on the angle. lots of side to side movement allowed with that red bracket thing he posted.
so no bushing on the x-member.
which is better?
first one is cheaper and easier to make, and you end up with more room.
Work smarter, not harder. Which ever one is easier to remove from the vehicle.
if you dont have anything to sleeve the frame with the first one will not be as good. the second can be done with all flat plate if you added a flange to the side of the crossmember you wouldnt need sleeves for the crossmember tube eaither.
