Utah Trip
I recently went a week long outing to Utah with 8 other Rovers led by Bill Burke. We started the trip in Blanding Utah and ended the trip in the Canyonlands where Elephant Hill dumps out in to a parking lot. Completely off of the road for the entire week except for 1 small section where the road was washed out about 10 feet and we skipped the bridge building option in favor of beer and campfire.
It was nice to get out and do the kind of wheeling that existed before pirate4x4. Bill's knowledge of the history and geography of Utah is amazing, we saw all sorts of Indian and Mormon historical sites and scenic over looks that you just can't access unless you are willing to poop out doors for a week and have a 4 wheel drive.
Only carnage was a blown out BFG and one guy broke a stock axle shaft on stair steps before Elephant Hill. I also got lost in the woods for about an hour after dropping a duece and only had a shovel, TP, and a lighter. Not exactly my top 3 things I'd pick for survival. I almost had to club a deer in the head and sleep inside it ton-ton style, but my forest navigation skills kicked in and I was able to find my way back to camp.

Thanks guys
With 8 trucks it was about 600 per truck for the guide and another $600ish in fuel for a fully loaded down 6000lb truck to get there and back to DFW. We stayed in a KOA one night and a hotel on the last night so an additional 100 bucks or so and maybe $100 in dining fees on the way out. Not horrible for a big vacation cost. Food costs were cheap with a little bit of planning. I did my usual $100 bucks in **** from central market and that was enough for a week. I did buy a 30 pack of miller thinking it would work, I used to drink this **** in college. I regretted that after day 1. If you do one of these bring good beer, its not like you'll be getting trashed every night and need quantity.
If TAMOR wants to put something like this together I'd be interested. Hell even K-Trail is a good preview of what these trips are like.

Bad ass Flem. Makes me want to take another Colorado trip somethin fierce!
-
Flem - consider me interested. I've been gaying it up on expo portal, watching the xoverland Alaska trip, etc. If you can tolerate me riding shotty/navigating/commentating I would be game.

Looked at the pics. Two fridges? Are you tent camping on the ground or did you sleep in the hammock.
I better go shemagh shopping.

Ed. Please plan. Colorado trip. We want to do one again.

What were the trails like? Some of those rigs looked a few mods from stock. Any vicious obstacles to speak of?
