Would it be feasible to cut off the rear of one's leafd springs just behind the axle and add two more control arms. Then use the two fronts of the old springs as control arms and put coils on top of the axle where the leaf springs bolt on?

In the words of Jimmy "that sounds like a good idea"
While technically you could, i don't think thats the issue. WHY would you want to? it would basically be ****** rigged booty fab seems to me. the spring effect from the leafs would still be there, and they most likely would not be rigid enough for control. also the coils would be wierd at contact point and shorter than need be. just use coils and the control arms, plus two more control arms with no leafs, how much can it possibly add?
oh and by the way -- you are crazy.
I agree with seth...no rigidity.... might get some kinda funky axle wrap
plus...when a leaf is compressed, it goes towards the shackle. So even when sitting it would be putting a force on the other 2 solid links that you wouldn't normally have, not to mention if you hit a bump...
what is your reason for this?? cheap??? easy??? sounds canadian to me!!!
you're crazy
[rainman voice] cra crazy...definatly crazy [/rainman voice]

Maybe I should swap the front with 5" alcans and then try to find some coils to match the lift of the front.
That way I can drop the moeny for front springs and do the swap NOW.
Ya think?
do you have to have new springs to do the front? just do it step by step - i thought you could...
It won't work like everyone has said... KISS
Doug
