Where was the short? The tach wire?
if you have a battery already, you should NEVER pay to get a new one. if you cant exchnage it for a new one, you suck at life.
not everyone is as shiasty as you tyler, hell your an even bigger jew than me
Yeah, that battery isnt bad, just turn on the truck and let it charge. its fine, the short was just making it seem bad
Dont furd gassers use 5w20? Thats all they get at work, but we dont have any 78-79's in the fleet.
i always ran 10w30 in my m block
Tell me what your oil pressure is and I'll tell you what oil to use!!! I'll respond to your pm when I'm back in Texas and not drunk.
I have always used 10w30. For what its worth, i tore my first engine apart after it had exploded the piston rings (previous owner was a JackA$$) and the cam lobes, crank bearings and cam bearings looked close to new with it. The engine had like 80k when it got fawked. That being said, the m blocks are notorious for low oil pressure so when 10w30 gets hot i have only 18 psi at idle. When i had 5w20 it was like 25. I recommend 5w20. Right now i have mobil 1 synthetic 10w30 at the time, in hinesight (sp) i should have used 5w20. I didn't even think about it when i bought the new oil.
oh here's the piston rings of my first motor just for fun

oh and the excessive crank pressure resulted in this along with blowing oil everywhere

I'm real proud of you boys and Imma let you finish, but neither the alternator nor the draw on the tach were the reason the truck wouldn't start. The battery was. The battery was dead because you drove it with a non-functioning alternator, and was dead before that because of the short. So I was right. :flipoff2:
enjoy beating on your truck
sorry guys, hippie is correct
