Can you take your stock shaft, flip it around, so the axle end is at the t-case. I am assuming on Cherokee it runs 1310 u-joints. Then take the shaft to a driveline shop and have them weld a slip...

Cherokees are good low buck wheelers. Check out tommy Matheas old Cherokee, I think it was called the Easter egg. I think in the end he had under 1000 in it and did pretty well until it thru a rod.
