The reason you lost 2ft is because of your winch/toolbox configuration. cant bring anything all the way up to the front. Or at least i don't because the winch always doubles as a tie down. a 20ft set...

its also way too tall.
do believe he has ran cables to the back of his truck to run said winch. you can see the other end of the cable in the frame/tongue of the trailer.
