It looks good, but how is it going to take an impact? Is it tied in anywhere but the bumper and back by the door? I guess if you laid it on a rock it would slide.
A tapered ream? Is it on one of the angled holes? If so you'd better be decent on a mill or else the ream is going bite and shatter the ream. You might be better off using a hand drill.
He's meaning something diagonal from the bottom to the top. Horizontal bars probably don't help nearly as something diagonal.
