drove a 78 bronco for 2 yrs as a dd. i wouldnt do it again.

think a/c, fuel inj, power brakes, disc brakes, power steering, comfy bucket seats, overdrive. Anything after 87 will at least have all these. 76 few to none.

all valid points, and all real buzz kills. But realistic. i just want something different, something that you just don't see everyday for a dd. Like 90 and up f-series. I would gladely sacrific comfort for uniqueness. But i want what ever i decide on to get the job done when it comes down to towing the cj and its dding duties. Any suggestions that fit this extremely small criteria?

dd I 79 bronco for almost 4 years, loved it. However there is now way I could do that now with gas prices 3+ dollars. I acually calculated 5-6 mpg several times.

The biggest killer is no overdrive. All highway driving sucks: sucks down the gas, sucks getting passed, sucks that your motor won't last long if you do it alot (and go fast, 65+)

without alot of motor work these trucks are turds, 140-170hp because of polution control bs.

with all that being said and you could make it work, with alot of work. M-blocks can actualy be built to get good milage, I'm talking 17-20. My Grandpa swears he could get 22 in a station wagon with a 400. My dad had a 77 3/4 ton that could get 18mpg. If your interested in how to do this pm me.

*** I am not suggesting this is a good Idea but only a possible one.

edit - I just read it has a 360, the only way IMO to make that work is a trans swap to a ZF-5.

I heard there's a sweet 95 F150 for sale over by firestone. The guy that used to own it was an outlaw. The outlaw life kept him free like a bird...well, more like a hard-ass pterydactyl...
