well I guess I get to keep this thing afterall.

had some time to think about what direction I want to go. I am now thinking instead of the atlas 4 speed I will go with a 4:1 kit and a slip yoke eliminator kit to keep it cheapish. I want to 4 link the rear right off instead. I figure I can just run a TJ long arm kit on the front axle to keep it simple. Going to wheel it a couple more times while I gather up what I need to swap in the bronco axles.

why not try to buy or build a D300 w/ a 4:1 kit?

seems like it would be cheaper and yield more room for improvement:

    NP231:
    4:1 $750
    SYE $200
    total $950

    D300:
    case $200
    4:1 $550
    sell 231 -$100
    Total $650

you forgot about building shifters/flipping the 300

you will need a clocking ring and oval out one of the holes in the transmission to flip the 300

you could do both of those for well under the $300 difference.

you forgot new drivelines w/ the d300 but that may be a moot point since he is going to won tons

i would go with the 231/300 doubler. i don't like 4:1 gearsets in the 300's i think they are one of the main reasons you see cracked casses on 300s

Busa has gone thru several sets of 4:1 gears in his 231. I would not suggest that route...

How do they break and we are talking about Busa here too

So 4:1 gearsets are weaker than stock sets so you should build a 231 300 doubler. Burris should be able to get you a good deal on a d300 as well

i have some on my phone I will transfer later... where is not important at this time. as far as the gearing direction I dont really know which way I will go. I was actually considering a rubicon case. It is stronger than a 231, has sye and 4:1.

you able to find one less than ~$1200? that's used atlas(or built D300) territory.
