It's where it's supposed to be on a TJ with flares and a front fender. When you remove that stuff it looks as it does above.

it sticks out that way because that is where the fender was. I plan on building some tube ones eventually and that space will be covered again

welding on your back with a stick welder isnt exactly the easiest way to weld. the Welds are good even if they are ugly
