Just so you know, you voided your warranty by breaking that seal.

How does this work? When you push the toggle, does it switch the speaker output so it is connected direct to your headphone jack? Does that mean the only thing powering the speakers is the phone? Or does the signal still go through the radios's amplifiers and you can control sound level by adjusting the radio?

It still goes through the amplifier and the trebel bass knob.

I'll post a picture once the circuit is done, the main part is a nte4066 chip that you can get at Frys and probably radio shack. Its basically an electronic relay that lets you select analog sources.

There was a blue wire in the radio that went to the volume knob. The volume knob is just a potentiometer so using a voltmeter I identified which one of the 3 legs was the low end of the carbon track, cut it, and the potentiometer side of the wire became the input line while the other half became the AM output line.

yeah, got them on there tonight. I rebuilt them a week ago just haven't built up the patience until now to tackle those 2 bolts that require a crowsfoot. Big difference in the way it starts, the corrected timing helped too.
