    Need a Tie Rod Source...

This is what I have been looking at so far:

    Performance Unlimited

    Rockstomper

Who else should I be looking at?

For the tie rod, I'm going to need something with big heims on 1/4" - 1/2" spacers (to lift off of the arms). I want all of the necessary safety additions (washers, cones, etc.). The draglink will be from a heim on the arm end to a regular CJ pitman arm at the box.

Anyone have any research or "real world" experience?

talk to Matt Conlee about Performance Unlimited - he strongly recommends them and is currently using whatever the strongest steering system they have is - "Bombproof" I think

everybody i know who runs Randalls stuff loves it... Some don't think it's beefy enough and run various combos of sleeved cromo and DOM... I say you build your own...you've been building everything else.

Complete Trail-Proof Tie Rod and drag link system, fasteners, hardware, shims, tubing, rod ends and detailed instructions, For converting your oem design to a cross over system. Does not include hi-steer arms. Must insure drag link clears passenger leaf spring.

#RCP6686C RACE-PROOF TUBING upgrade option for above steering system $79.00 When ordered with above system

#RKP6686C ROCK-PROOF TUBING upgrade option for above steering system $99.00 When ordered with above system

PS - Their website sceme is pretty bad. It has a lot of useful info, but the flow and "theme" are rough, but I tend to be a little picky about stuff like this. ~dso

I'm seeing iunfo abot bullet proof on the warranty info, but not in the pricing. Anyone else see it? If it's not listed, I'm scared to ask.

my bad - I think they refer to all of it as being "bullet-proof", just like a lot of companies tend to do...the strongest components Performance Unlimited offers is the Rock Proof - take a look at Matt's steering next time you get the chance - that sh!t is friggin' beefy

here are the specs on the different sizes:

Mine is from Rusty. I know, people talk bad about his "customer service." But I didn't have a problem. My setup is not as beefy as some due to the D30 sized tie rod ends used. But it is thick walled DOM and the tube itself is threaded. There is no nut welded on the end. It is also zinked.

I have never bent it despite its vunerable location. And, as has been said before, it broke my steering knuckle off without a problem.

Dave I am runnig the P.U. stuff and have not had any problems. Other than my nuts coming loose so my bolt falls out and I loose control and end up in a ditch.

Take that anyway you want. They are serious when they say drill the bolts out for the castle nuts. O Well, maybe sometime I will get around to it

Matt Conlee, if you read this, how have your heims held up? Are they loose at all? How long have you had them?

    Thanks, ~dso

Screw it. It's ordered. I think my bunghole is permanently stretched from these two days.
