    More info on twin-sticked NP231 D300.

    etc.
twin sticked. not sure what you want to know but there is no twin sticking the 231, just the d300. There are plenty of ppl offering twin stick kits for the 300. The only thing you would be gaining by twin sticking the d300 is being about to put it in front wheel drive (front dig). If i had the money I would go for a triple stick cable shifter (vendors on pirate have them), the cable shifters would make figuring out all the shifter linkage much easier.

Mounting. There is no factory mounting holes in the 231 or the 300 so you will have to figure out something on the dana 300 (I plan on using some of the existing bolts/holes on the rear output shaft housing and fabing up a rear mount to help support all the weight hanging out there).

Dimensions. The 231 part of the doubler adds 7 7/8" (duffy's box 4 rocks). I do not know the length of a d300 but im sure you can google it the same as i can.

Cost. Box-4-rocks kit I got from duffy on pirate for $499.99.

Thanks. I have been going through the Pirate threads for a while now, but you know how they can be. I was hoping to find something along the lines of a doubler set ups 101.

I doubt I will have room with the stock wheel base anyway.

Thanks, this was just was I was looking for: http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=577021 http://www.pirate4x4.com/forum/showthread.php?t=841256

I didn't even know any brand names to search, and 231 D300 doubler was yielding poor results.

"The length of the 1980 Dana 300 is ~10-1/2", as measured from the front input face to the rear yoke face. The later version is ~11-5/8" long. "

So the 231 D300 doubler length should be 18 3/8"

What are you fullsize guys running for trans/tcase skid plate thickness. I'm thinking quarter inch plate will be more than fine.

    I think mine is 1/4"

What would be making my transmission get hot just idling in drive? During the hour long wait to get out of Shiloh, my trans temp got hotter than it ever has, but as soon as we got out and moving , it went back to sub 190. It got up to 270 for about a minute near the end of that wait.

    Steering Stabilizer

Hey guys, whilst getting my thirty thousand mile fluid changes done and whatnot i was notified that my steering stabilizer was shot... Again. Thankfully the new Rancho replacement has a lifetime warranty. But anyways, what could be causing this? First one was either factory or full traction and ****ted out on me and this one was Teraflex and was supposed to hold up no problem... Any ideas?

Maybe something in your steering/drivetrain is giving some vibes so it is going out prematurely? Does it track straight? Any vibrations in the wheel?

We replace almost every OEM one that moves through the shop, but I figured it was due to the fact that they don't look like they'd hold up on a Geo Metro. Haven't heard of any recurring problems.
