Bronco has solid motor mounts coupled with a ghetto rubber transmission mount. Apprently no one including Ford, JBG, or any parts store carry the proper AOD trans mount. I end up using the AOD mount that everyone shows and having to elongate the mounting holes to fit. This rigged up mount lasts about a year, or 4-5 big runs.

Is a solid transmission mount a horrible idea? Or pretty common?

If I was going to run solid motor mounts I would run solid tranny mount too. Seems like having one solid mounted and the other not would increase the likely hood of cracking something. That being said it would probably be a good idea to make a mount that would spread the load around on the tranny.

Don't mix mounts like that, you will tear something up with the way you wheel. Oh, and I am in no way saying that is a bad thing.

I've always heard that, but I'm starting to think that's another internet myth like the RV cam. I've seen a lot of builds lately using mixed mounts with no issue.

As much as I hate you for this comment, it made me chuckle

How is the mount failing? Can you just run a couple bolts straight through it?
