I'd see if there's mechanical advance on the distributor, and if so just change the weights on it to make up for the lack of vacuum advance, if not, then you should just leave it alone or you could see if there was a distributor for that engine that used it.

Alright looking at 35spl shiat I like drive slugs for the strength, but they suck on the road with an always locked front end. I know I can get them with the slug eliminator. How many of you all running slugs have the eliminators? If so do you ever remove them or is it just to much of a pita?

What locker do you have up front? With my detroit up front, I don't have any problems w/ the slugs in. The only thing I have run into is that the driveshaft is always turning and since it had a pretty good dent/bend it would vibrate a bit and had a knock to it somewhere. If you are going to run a spool/lincoln locker then it may not be so good for you on the pavement. I got pretty good at pulling the slugs, and just takes someone to rock the truck to get them to slide out sometimes (that and keep a little grease on them when you put them in to keep from sticking).

What is this slug eliminator you speak of? You can take the slugs out and put the backing plate, clip and cover back on to keep the hub sealed up if that is what you are talking about.

I ran the welded front with drive flanges for years. It sucks on things like highways. This is the reason I now have a detroit. Unlockable hubs are for suckers.

I will have a pol-laka at both ends, is there any other way?

I now don't really know why I asked that question I had the same setup in the waggie abortion.

Ed yes the elminator allows you to pull the slug but still keep the cap on the hub. That style runs about 50 bones more.

Do you have a link to the eliminators? I want to see how you pull them and if it would be easier than the 4 allen bolts and the snap ring.

It works the same and you still have to remove all the parts it just simply allows use of the cap minus the slug.

Ive never seen a 60 with 30 spline stock slugs. so im gonna say no.

the only thing besides a 205 would be the CUCV's with the 208's.
