yeah, but it's a MUCH thicker diff cover than is on most D44's... almost twice as thick... it seems to be holding up just fine to several of my typical "jackass" stress tests.

If you saw how much room I had to mount that thiung you would understand why...

i'm not doubtin it, i just wondered if i was seein it right, and i'd like to see that cover, what about the bolts holdin it on though? you runnin something stronger than stock ones? don't know what kinda sheer forces those things will hold up to

yeh im with landon on this one, i think the whole thing about a ram thrusting into a diff cover is gonna earn you the dumbass award one day :flipoff 2 (i think thats how you do it)

I've seen a ram successfully mounted and used off a front rock ring. Now that's plenty stout!

yeah boys...it's most certainly not some random idea I had in a wet dream... lots of people mount them to their diff covers... they're plenty stout if you run a beefier unit for a diff cover... there are a lot of bolts on that diff cover.

This mounting poractice is actually pretty commonplace... I've seen it done A LOT.

another question, are you runnin a long bolt through both hiem joints above the steering arm? are you goin to put a brace from the arm to the top of the bolt?

I reamed the arm for a bigger bolts and used misalignment washers...don't really notice any flex... I think this is called double shear... I haven't seen anybodyreally need a brace with the hydro assist...

i'd be more worried about the arm rather than the bolt, that is of course assuming your using grade 8, but seems like it would put a lot of twisting force on that arm, esp w/ 38's and a detroit

yeah, but they're stock cast arms... not high steer ones where there's a lot of torque on them...these arms sit almost directly in the middle of the knuckle... I'm not worried about any of that ****...ball joints are the definite weak link...

EDIT: in the pics... look at how low my knuckle places the tie rod...even with a tie rod over knuckle setup it's not really high, especially with the steering arm being brace from the top and bottom of the knuckle... I honeslty hadn't even thought about it being a problem... got spare knuckles if it does cause problems.

I deard ya'... I would definetley recommend a bigger bolt...hence the reaming...the stock hole was pretty small, not much bolt there...

And can't recommend misalignment washers highly enough...saw what happened to a setup before matt realized he needed to install them... ***...fubar'd heim joints...
