Its time to replace the tires on my girlfriends truck, and she wants to go with 285's this time. Her truck is a 03 chevy 1500 Z71 currently on 265's. For being a 4x4 with the Z71 package, her truck seems really low in the front, so I doubt the 285s are going to clear with out a lift, trimming, different backspaced wheels, or some combo of the above. She doesn't mind lifting it, but doesn't want to go very high (max of 2 inches or so). So does anyone have any suggestions on what route is the best?
I could probably crank the torsion bars, but her truck rides pretty ****ty as it is, so I don't know if thats the best idea. Quite honestly it seems like the whole front end is worn out, and leans to the passenger side alot. I'm going to replace the shocks to see if that helps the ride or the lean somewhat. How hard is it to replace the ball joints on these trucks? We've had several people say that it looks like they are worn out. Sorry about all the questions, but when it comes to problems with IFS, my normal method of fixing things involve a cutting torch.
