also, be weary of any scope combo as the scope is going to suck and generally the rifle will be less quality too. for instance, the remington 710 is a far cry from a remington 700.
so, take half of this and throw the other half away, huh?

    .243 is a girls gun.

After re-scanning through this thread I fail to understand how a 30-06 (or similar)is too big for "varment hunting". Are yall eating these varments?

not a bad rifle, but not the best. it'll do what you want it to. what do you expect when you buy your guns at wal-mart?

    Not exclusively

And the crappy ones I do have are just toys. For getting serious about killing **** I have nice ones. Browning Gold hunter for anything with wings and Winchester pre-64 model 70 for anything with 4 legs.

i'm happy with it so far. it is a decent gun with a so so scope but for drunk rabbit hunting it will do great. when/ if i get into deer hunting in a few years i will drop some coin on something nice. its no 2k gun but then i don't have to worry about it. Its probably going to get banged up so i wanted something that i wouldn't cringe if it hit the roll bar or it got dropped accidentialy

i just remembered, when i was shopping for my dad's .338, this and the tikka T3 were my choices since they were the only two chambering .338 fed. ruger hadnt quite started making the scout rifle yet but was advertising it. went with the tikka and its a great rifle.
