I am selling my 1991 or 1992 Kawasaki KLR650. I am at work and can not remember the exact year. Mileage is either around 11,000 or 13,000. I can update when I get home. Pictures are of the bike about 2 years ago. Price is $1500 for TAMOR members. FIRM! On Monday it is going on Craigslist for $2000. Knoeller had an '89 with 48,000 miles and sold it for $1,750 within a week, so $1,500 for this one is a deal.
ABOUT THE BIKE
*Dual sport, perfect for commuting to class. Can be ridden on the highway or on the dirt
*650 cc single cylinder engine, largest single cylinder dirt bike EVER made, can do 100+mph and the quarter mile in the 13's
*Water cooled
*Electric Start
CONDITION
*Starts and runs, see battery comment below
*Less than 1000 miles on brand new chain and sprockets
*Drive sprocket has one less tooth than stock, Driven has one more tooth than stock, this makes the bike have more power at low end and allows for a slower idle speed
*Just changed oil and filter
*Just rebuilt the carb
*New Spark Plug
*Comes with a brand new set of tires, the tires on it were fine, but I was thinking of putting it back on the road and bought these.
*I have the title, but not in my name, title is a clean Texas title, should have no issues getting it registered
*Needs a battery, I can jump it and it starts right up
*Some plastic cracked (like the tabs over the radiator)
*Seat cover is starting to dry rot and has one crack in it
*Some of the stickers are starting to peel up
*Needs to be washed
*Left side mirror broken off
*Ignition and gas tank "rigged" so no key is required, I lost the key
*Turn signals are broken
WHY AM I SELLING: I bought the bike from a guy who drove it to work. I used it as a dirt bike when I would go to my deer lease. That is the reason for the broken turn signals, etc... At this time Jerry, Knoeller, etc... all had dirt bikes. Now no one rides anymore. A year and a half ago I went to ride and the battery was dead, I bought a new battery and rode it once. Now I have not ridden it since then. I had to rebuild the carb as it was gummed up. I never ride it and do not need it. Nothing major wrong with it, just taking up space in my garage.
Everybody always talks about wanting a bike they can drive back and forth to class, this is the perfect bike for this. It will hop curbs like no ones business, it is fast and powerful enough for highway trips, yet you can still go off road with it. Oh you need to be kind of tall to ride it. I figured I would offer it here before I put it on the list. Do not contact me (Colman) and offer me $1000 or $1400, or offer me a payment plan involving the trading of livestock and jeep parts. This is a deal at $1500.
