    Warn 8274

I just picked up one of these for $45. It's missing the solenoid pack and controller, but otherwise looks complete.

I browsed billvista's article on pirate and it seems pretty simple.

Anyone heard anything about an albright solenoid? It's supposed to be a single reversible contactor that is much more reliable.

Take it easy, it could be all sorts of screwed up inside, we'll see. It's definitely been out in the weather for a while.

So back on topic. Anyone heard of these Albright solenoids?

expedition exchange sells them, but they sell alot of gimmicky junk that no one really needs.

its $120, i haven't had to price out stock replacements but theyve got to be cheaper. Didn't you rebuild the warn on your blazer? I seem to remember you smacking the solenoids with a crescent wrench on more than one occasion.

I saw that site already. Yeah, I've messed with the one's on the blazer on more than one occasion, but recent research may prove it's a grounding problem inherent to those motors.

If I rebuild this, I wouldn't mind spending a couple extra bucks, if the Albright crap is much better.

Did you see the titanium spork?

Maybe that starter place in bryan has some stuff. I haven't looked at a 8274 closely in a while, could you waterproof the relay housing on it?

Double check the amp ratings on the ones Ryan posted..doesn't a 8274 draw something like 400 amps at full load pull?
Kick ass deal on the winch...I know there is a lot of tech on 8274's on the jungle trek rally type race forums. search some sites w/ .au

Yea, I don't see what that one is rated for.

That is the place I got my solenoids from but the web site has changed since then. They were the heavier duty ones rated for my 4.8hp motor. I think they were the kind Doug is talking about, what would be called single pole double throw. Work just like a regular little automotive relay where you can use them as NO or NC. I forget exactly how they are wired but it uses 2 to control the 3 post motor. I believe I also got my motor rebuild parts from there. Winch cable is also about half price of offroad shops, and comes with a mean hook.

Doug if you can find the specs on the factory solenoids I might be able to match them with something napa carries in our catalog at work.
On the 8th day god created the Super Swamper TSL and said "go forth and kick ass"
