    Said Cruiser...

    http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Cars-Trucks___toyota-land-cruiser-fj40-fj-40-landcruiser-4x4-jeep_W0QQitemZ300265802291QQddnZCarsQ20Q26Q20Truck sQQddiZ2282QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item300265802291&_t rkparms=72%3A727|39%3A1|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid =p4506.c0.m245

I called him and he tells me he wants $22,000. Now seeing as how my family is in the middle of resto'ing a cruiser I understand how much money goes into these things, but this guy doesn't even have a Top or doors for the 40. I just found it a little humorous when he told me "The engine and Tranny came out of a totaled 2003 1/2 ton with 3,000 miles on it, it is worth $10,000". That's when I started to end the convo... Oh well, nice cruiser.

I'll bet he gets closer to what he's asking than what you're willing to pay. That's a nice looking truck.

    Already dune beige too!

That motor is older than 03 if my memory serves me correctly due to the square-ishness of the plastic engine cover.

3 things that annoy with a 20 second glance.

    Side pipe exhaust, really?
    Parts store looking battery
1" longer bolts than necassary on the heater blower motor...

It does look very clean though.

Yeah, thus the reason I will just watch the Auction and keep on waiting.

Yeah I have seen a couple of this guys cruisers and they are all side exit exhaust, I do not understand this at all. first thing I would change if I bought it.

I think I am ok with the Battery, and the heater I didn't notice...

    a few observations:

1.the auction lists the VOC for the primer he uses, why?
    2. no MAF sensor
    3. throttle cables on an 03?
    4. no loom on the harness
    5. patch on the rear quarter passenger side. Is that supposed to be there?
    6. shatty exhaust
    7. poor body panel fitment (fender lines)

Good catches. I saw the patch too, but that could be there if the 40 had an auxilary Gas Tank and he took it out.

dunno anything about why he listed the primer ****.

The square engine cover is off of 1999/2000 model 5.3's. 2002 was the last year of cable throttle bodies, but that doesn't mean a whole lot. He could have swapped that throttle body on there because he didn't want to figure out the drive-by-wire setup from the 2003. Subsequently, I think he would have to use an earlier harness and ECM if this were the case. I can't remember all the details on that. I've slept and drank since I researched that last. Looking at that copper tube hooked into the front of that intake manifold, I would say that intake is also older than 03 because that port is capped off after mid-2002 because of the elimination of the older style EGR system.

Why do you have your Scout?

EDIT: I just thought it was cool, I still have a deal going to buy an actual wheeling rig, this was just something I saw on Ebay that peeked my interest. I am tired of the FJC and looking at what I will replace it with some day.
