    Mounting a M12000 on a Duramax...

Like the title says, Mounting a M12000 on a Duramax... and it not looking like an abortion.

So I picked up an M12000 on the cheap and would like to put it on the front of my Duramax. My problem is I do not like the look of the giant front bumpers that are being made for these trucks. I do not want something that sticks off the front of my truck like a swahilli woman's lip... My other problem is there is no freaking way I am pating $1500 for a giant anchor to mount to the front of my truck.

What I would really like to do is put the winch behind the stock bumper and cut a spot in the stock bumper for the winch cable. I have never seen this and I do not think there is room. My second choice would be a small winch monut or maybe put a front reciever hitch on.

    Thoughts?

Buckstop makes this one, it does not look too bad. It is close to the grill and still can hold a winch.

Tough Country also makes this little guy. They want $995 for it, Seems like something I could make, but I really do not want to cludge together a bumper.

euro bar? sweet, the disco needs one. Do they sell it seperate?

i have no idea whats behind the bumper, but maybe there is room to build a tray that holds the winch and bolts to the frame rails, cut a hole behind the license and flip it up to get to the fairlead

Warns website sucks when it comes to showing pictures of their products on different model vehicles, but they have several different ways to mount a winch to that truck. It shows a hidden kit, like I have on the F150, but it requires a special short drum XD 9000. I think your best bet would be their bull bar/grill guard and bolt the M12000 to that.

They also make replacemnt bumpers. I saw one on a superduty around CS and it looked pretty good.

Here's the light ranch hand. You can get it with a hidden winch mount.

I think these fit the lines of the truck better. I don't know if they offer a hidden winch mount.

FWIW, here is the quote I got on pbb for the fabfours winch bumper for our model trucks.

The price of the Fab Fours #CH05-A1350-1 is $2317.56 and I'll cover the shipping. Just let me know.

    Cheers,

i think that bumper is about 1k-1500 more than what he is wanting to spend just to mount a winch.

me likeyy the second one you posted karl

Yes, the reason I don't already have one on my truck is that I feel the same way.

Yeah, What I would like to spend and what I will have to spend are 2 different things. I would like to spend nothing... The second one I posted I think looks good with or without the Eurotrash bar, but seriously that thing is a piece of 4 inch pipe with 2 angle bends and then like 4 pieces of diamond plate for $1000!!!

You can get a front like that for $600-700 maybe less.
