Tommy's motor runs but smokes real bad on throttle. The only good thing is you will never get west nile virus riding in his bronco. If you're spending all that money on a 400, why not spend it on a 351 or 460? The whole point of suggesting a different motor is so he can use factory EFI. It doesn't need a bunch of power anyways, it just needs to sound good. Big cam with lots of lobe separation, that way every redneck at alto asks if it's got a cam in it.

Doesn't matter what we think Tommy will do what he wants. I suspect he goes with a 460 and a cam that doesn't idle very well with some carbs.

If it were me I would swap an LQ4 or LQ9 in place, if you wanted to keep with the Ford find a 5.0 Coyote

Tommy if you do go factory efi 460, do some research on cams before you buy anything because if you change the efficiency of the motor then the speed density computer won't calculate the mass of the air right and it will run like dog ****. That's where mass air has the advantage. Speed density motors do really well with boost though.

Then I'd have to get tow mirrors......that defeats the point of narrowing it.

I was going to look but this thread is 48 friggin pages long. What the ****. At some point I seem to remember you being very attached to this motor because you had sunk a lot of money into rebuilding it. No? Also, DavidO has a good post on the first page

Welp, Flywheel finally got to the point where it won't start anymore while chet was doing some a-1 towing recovery. So I guess the motor rebuild is going on an accelerated timeline because he has to pull the motor to replace it.

Why do you have to pull the motor to replace the flywheel?
