used shafts for this thing used to be easy to find in the free--$50 range back in the day... I got two complete 78 models axles from a guy that just needed them hauled off back in 02

i was literally a minute late from loading up an entire chassis and drive train at bryan iron.

problem is Canadians are somehow getting ahold of all these old cars/trucks and scrapping dem fo fodeys instead of thinking and parting them out for 2-3x more.

    Check with Houston Drivetrain Service.....

I've done a ton of business with them building custom driveshafts and ordering "hard to find" axle shafts, great service and products. I used to have a dodge d44 and had trouble sourcing shafts so I went to them, I think I paid $120ish for a complete inner and outer side. That was back in 05 or 06 though....

If you bought both sides it might not be a bad deal, you would have extras then...i agree you need to find the right part.

Mods, could/should all this axle talk be moved to his build thread?

because if i could find them used it would have been alot cheaper. This weekend i am going to try out some u-pull yards around here.

Where would they have 79 broncos and trucks?

The 70 4wd fords are getting harder to find in the yards. There are always lots of 2wds but very few 4x4.

That sucks. The yard we had in colorado would always have a 79 bronco in it. There were three there in the one year i had my bronco.
