1986 gmc high sierra 4x4 Parting out

Alright I didnt want to go search out parts in junkyards and lay in the mud so I just bought a whole truck. No motor/700R4/208 supposedly the trans was rebuilt not to long ago and it looks clean in comparision to most parts on the truck. I will be taking some body panels and glass, all suspension, axles, driveshafts, and windshield wipers, but i am not. Let me know if you want something let me know as this will be a quick tear down/scrap. Most parts costs will be in some beer or really cheap.

    Trans-$100
    T-case-$75
    or combo for $135

ah ok sharpe told me it would be a 700r4 how do you tell the difference? i think the shift column that tells you what gear it is is gone. i dont really care what trans it is i just need to find out what it is to get it sold.

the shape of the trans and the pan. A 700R4 has a square pan, while a th350 has the angle on it.

I said it should have a 700r4. You dont suppose that somewhere along the way in this poor truck's 24 years that some redneck asshole broked the stock 700 and put whatever the **** he could find (in this case, a th350) in its place. Its a wash though, from what I've seen th350's are a touch more desireable (i.e. easier to sell) than 700r4's.

hmm, this requires investigation, here is an oil pan identifying site,

    http://www.crankshaftcoalition.com/w..._transmissions

it looks to be a 350, but if the column says over drive, I think there is some canadianism

No just simply making conversation. You and David Oliver were kings of the 700r4. So does this make this combo more or less desirable?

TH350. The pan, and the vacuum modulator on the side is a dead giveaway.
