    88 4runner V-6 to 22re swap

Ok I have a good 22re and 5 speed in a wrecked 2wd truck. Wiring, engine mounts, etc good, just the front end is smushed.

    I have found a v6 5 speed 4 runner with a f'ed up motor, cheap.

How hard would it be to put the 4 cyl where the V6 was? I'm thinking some different wiring and maybe mounts? Was the 5 speed the same in the v6 and 22re?

The 4runner sounds like it is in great shape and has a bunch of new parts.

Eckert- I was just kidding about the scout stuff. SII frames are heavier duty and better as an offroad platform. People put early scouts on SII frames all the time. We're friends again right?

Nope. The 5 Speed that came behind the 22RE is the W56, the 5 Speed that came behind the 3.slow is the R150F.

Shouldn't be too hard, just need the right ECU to swap over, some different mounts, swap the engine and transmission and figure out what you need to mount up that T-Case to the R150F (shouldn't be much) and go on down the road.

Chris, you mean mount the t-case to the w56? I would have a 4wd R150F, and a 2wd w56 in my pile of parts.

Also, what are the gear differences in the 4 cyl and the 6? I would assume the v6 would have taller gears.

Sorry not enough sleep, meant mount that R150F up to the 22RE. I don't know about the gear differences let me see if I can drag something up...

is the bellhousing pattern even the same? Does R150F have a removable bellhousing? This sounds like the worst idea evar jimmy. If the 4runner is a good deal there is plenty of documentation online for swapping a 3.4 for a 3.0, and then it wouldn't be a turd

Those ratios look fine, was wondering about the axle ratios. Yeah, if the 22RE bolts up to the R150F I would think it would be a fairly simple swap.

You're gonna swap the entire wiring harness? I doubt the 3vze computer will run the 22re, or that any of the plugs would match

I already have a rebuilt 22re with less than 10K miles on it. How much is a 3.4? I guess I'll pass on this one then and stick to finding a 22re truck?

    Here is the 4runner...

I have one, don't really see how it would be THAT hard.

Looks like I would need a 22re turbo bellhousing to bolt up my 22re to the R150F. I'm thinking a 4wd W56 would be much easier to find.

    Like so...
